What is the exact bit type and size required for removing the two set screws on the casing (and the internal screws)?

Thank you for watching... You will need a Torx 10 Driver for the case and a 3mm Hex Driver for the cartridges. If you purchase from Ripcaster we configure and install for you.

You're the first one explaining the Linn LP12 Upgrade Options in detail. I've upgraded to Lingo 4 in 2023 and in 2024 there was a promotion to upgrade the chassis plus Karousel which was performed by my dealer. The recommendation for the last upgrade was to run an 200 hours running-in period. I can say the upgrades made siginificant changes in playing LP's from a sound point of view. Take care and have a great time. Martin

Yes - you can connect third-party active speakers via (fully) Balanced or Unbalanced cables e.g. ATC

Great information 🙏 I’m surprised Linn would put a Phono Preamp in a table. Most spending that kind of money wouldn’t be going for a Preamp at that level. Wonder what their logic was for that decision.

I have the Abyss, it sounds incredibly good for a Class D amplifier, and the streamer is solid, I find it better than the BlueSound Node N130. I have my Abyss paired with the Murano bookshelf speakers and a trio of REL T-Zero subwoofers. The room correction works, very happy with that. Again, the sound is more Class A/B to my ear, they did a very good job here. The software could be improved, it is not that intuitive when compared to others, but I am getting it figured out. The software is at least stable, no issues there other than one major issue I will get to. Streaming, Tidal is via Tidal Connect, which is annoying. Qobuz works seamlessly in the Cabasse app, very happy with that. Those are the only two I use. Connections, at this price, a pair of XLR would have been nice. The TV HDMI, no clue what that does, it does nothing functional that I can tell. I had to use an optical SPDIF to connect to my TV. My niggles, there is yet to be full Roon certification, so if you use Roon, you are stuck with AirPlay. The Abyss needs Roon certification, I cannot believe they are not there yet. Then the elephant in the room... THERE IS NO REMOTE CONTROL! This NEEDS a remote control, I hate using my phone or an iPad to control volume. And this is where the software has issues. My volume control jumps, it is not smooth on either my iPhone or iPad. I thought I blew my speakers when it jumped all the way to full volume. This is a deal killer in my book, and I wish I would have known that before purchasing. I am seriously considering returning this, but I will more than likely keep it. Why keep it? Well, it sounds incredibly good, and I have wanted another Class D amp in the house since selling my last one. I am using my preamp and Volumio Rivo streamer out to the Abyss so that I have volume control for now, and a useable Class D amplifier. I will order a iPad remote for volume control and see how that goes, they sell them on Amazon. Then, if this ever gets Roon certification, which they say they are working on, this will take the sound quality to another level and may be worth recommending. So, there you have it. If you are looking for a standalone unit like this, I would look elsewhere due to the remote issue, but that is just me.

Very interesting, very well put together. Which of the 10 configurations is your favourite for sound quality?
@ripcastercouk2 ай бұрын
The highest performance from Selekt is the Dual Mono line out carrtidges with dual mono organik DACs with external amplification... So system 10 shown here gets my vote for 'performance' - but the beauty of Selekt DSM is that it can be configured to your requirements and budget. It can easily be reconfigured if you needs change over time. I recommend you check out our videos on the new updated Selekt DSM Classic and on the new Linn 150 and 119 speakers. We will probably make an updated version of this video featuring the new models... Like and subscribe etc to get notified of new videos. I wanted a Linn Sondek LP12 for many years until I saw one at the dealer. The on/off button was crocked and made me feel that this brand is way overpriced. But heir marketing department are very very clever because they can get enthusiasts to pay enormous amounts of money on something that should have been in in the decks from the start. I got the feel that I could make a LP12 myself just from bits and pieces from the shed. I got myself a Technics SL-1200G instead. Sorry Linn.

@enniol80433 ай бұрын
I am assuming that this was designed with a pair of passive Linn 360s in mind. Just curious what would be better, to integrate the entire system into the speakers or having the DAC sit in the Klimax DSM and the amp outside the speakers.
@ripcastercouk2 ай бұрын
They certainly had the 360 PWAB speaker in mind - but I think are targeting people using non-Linn speakers. These are amps that are designed to stand by themselves as products to be considered in high end systems - not just Linn systems. They are cool running and have the ability to drive any given speaker optimally. Klimax Solo 800 features novel and Linn-original technologies which combine to produce staggeringly low distortion measurements, with superb signal-to-noise ratio and incredible efficiency. ripcaster.co.uk/Linn_Klimax_Solo_800_Power_Amplifier

I have the following... Majik Isobarik (2011) Akurate System Hub Akurate Exaktbox-I8 Can I replace both my System Hub and Exaktbox-I with a single Selekt DSM configured with Utopik power supply, and Organik DACs, with 8-channels of amplification, and still be Exakt ? If so, what would be the approx cost for such a Selekt DSM ?
@ripcastercouk3 ай бұрын
The Majik Isobarik is a 4 ways speaker so you need 8 channels to drive this speaker Aktiv. The Selekt DSM is capable of 6-channels (3 x Power Out or 3 x Line Out cartridges and 3 x sterao DACs). For your system the best upgrade would be to replace the Akuarte System hub with a Selekt DSM Classic or Edition System Hub and continue to use the ExaktBox-I. Please call 01183218292 or email [email protected] for a quotation or to discuss other combinations e.g. new Linn 150 speakers + Selekt DSM
@enniol80433 ай бұрын
Can you please verify if you can install amplifier modules in there as well and a DAC? I would assume though that you could not go Aktiv is that's the case.
@ripcastercouk3 ай бұрын
The Selekt can take upto 3 2 channel power amp cartridges, each cartridge accepts a DAC module. See around 2min mark in the video... The whole purpose of multiple cartridges is designed to offer active (AKTIV) operation.
