Interesting. I visited Lisbon (and Porto) in May 2024. Now I want to go back to Lisbon and have been looking at places to stay for a week in 2025. I found a serviced apartment on R. do Merca-Tudo (street in front is CC do Marques de Abrantes near Av. Dom Carlos I) and Google mapped the area. It looks like a pretty safe place with lots of restaurants, and it's close, if not in, the area of Misericordia.

We were serious about moving to Lisbon but recently changed our focus to Porto because of the difference in apartment prices, if I could get a 2 bedroom in good condition in Lisbon for up to $400,000 I will gladly change back. We stayed in Estefania 2 years ago and I love that area (and Arroios).

Hello Rachel, Thank you for watching and commenting! I always love hearing from friends who are considering a move to Lisbon. You're right-Porto is indeed more affordable than Lisbon. As the bigger city and capital, as well as a cosmopolitan and cultural hub, prices in Lisbon tend to be higher, especially in prime areas. As I mentioned, there’s usually something for everyone, regardless of budget, as long as expectations align with what’s possible. For example, I have a client who purchased a charming 2-bedroom, 2-bath apartment (70m²) for under €400,000 in Graça. It's in an older building with that classic Lisbon charm. However, if you're looking for something newer, a budget like that may not stretch as far, as you may have already noticed. Always keep in mind the golden rule of real estate: location, location, location! If Lisbon is where your heart is set, there are ways to make it work-perhaps a one-bedroom instead of two. Guests can always stay at a hotel. But most importantly, you should focus on creating the life you want in Portugal. Just my two cents!

@@livinginLisbonPortugal Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to me. I plan to spend a month in Porto next winter to get a feel for the place, especially during the cold/rainy season. We are a family of 3, we will be moving with my son, so we need at least a 2 bedroom and my husband has mobility issues so we need a flat and walkable neighborhood and a lift, I don't mind if the apartment is not new as long as it's comfortable and livable but most older building don't have lifts. Just from online searches I see that Porto has so many more options and I am hoping I will fall in love with Porto the way I fell in love with Lisbon. I am keeping my mind open, I was very interested in Lisbon and maybe it will still happen but I am starting to warm up to Porto from afar and hope I will love it when I get there.

Is there any places in lisbonthat you can get 10 percent return renting them
@livinginLisbonPortugal
@livinginLisbonPortugal Ай бұрын
Hi Royal Realtor, thank you for reaching out and for your inquiry. To be completely transparent, achieving a 10% ROI in Lisbon isn't common, particularly without an Airbnb license. While I understand that other markets may offer lower property prices and potentially higher returns, Lisbon’s strength lies in its long-term security and property appreciation. The city, and Portugal as a whole, have consistently proven to be an excellent place to live and invest.

Hi, firstly thank you for the effort to give such elaborate explanation. I want to give some constructive critics. It would be better write down the numbers in the screen. Videos like this probably are not being watched entirely, so I’d rather watch a 3 minute general overview than a detailed video. You can try to explain things basically like; rent, transportation, food… simpler, shorter and better I guess. Have a nice one.

Hey Eddie! I'm looking to move to Lisbon end of 2024, it's been on my radar awhile now. I'm currently trying to identify ideal neighborhoods & I came across a concern: What's your take on the noise pollution over there? I hear a lot of people have issues with the plane noise. Do you have recommendations for neighborhoods that are 'less noisy'? Obviously avoiding any noise entirely is unrealistic in a city like Lisbon, but I'm trying to foresee as many possible problems ahead of time so I can put measures in place now rather than later.
@livinginLisbonPortugal
@livinginLisbonPortugal 9 ай бұрын
Hey Stephen, first of all thank for watching and for your comment. When moving to Lisbon it is important to have the assistance of someone who understands the many variables when it comes to plane noises and other items you should be aware of when moving to the old world. I would personally not be so concerned with it as this is not an issue in most of the neighbourhoods, and I don't want to point out any areas as those areas can have apartments that are perfectly fine, it is really about searching for the right property while keeping in mind the fact you don't want to hear the planes. As real estate and relocation professionals we will be here to serve and assist when the time to make your move comes, lets schedule a zoom call when you are ready to start planning your move to beautiful Lisbon. I do thank you for your time and attention watching the content we so carefully create to educate those considering moving to this beautiful country. Comparing Portugal to Equador is a far stretch, but each to their own opinion. I guess only time till tell if Portugal is going to continue to be welcoming, and to grown as this multicultural and international society, witch have contributed so much with the growth of the country economy in recent years, or if the country and its citizens will choose to go back to where the country was financially 20 years ago. Don't get me wrong, I understand the there is the positive and negative on everything, growth and progress are no different, as with many places as they grown and become more dynamic and desirable, the cost of living changes, and this is a worldwide issue, but I believe a good way to handle changes is to ride the wave and make opportunities happen. I have immigrated twice already in my lifetime, first to Canada when I was 18 and at the age of 40 to Portugal, with all the challenges I kept on going, and if I have to start al over again somewhere else I will. Life is too short to wean and complaint.
