@@aziza000 I know. I have been to the Maldives several times, also solo. I thought on a small island resort, I would be safe. On one island there was staff, he was responsible for the beach bar. From day one on, he wanted sex. He always told me that female solo travelers from western countries are out for sex. He didn’t respect me or me telling him every single day, that I do not want to have sex with him. And one evening he grabbed me, tried to kiss me and then grabbed my breasts. I had to tell the manager and he lost his job.

@@MissRed92837 oh wow, sorry for your bad experience. I do know in those countries (one of them which I’m native to myself) the reputation of a female belonging to the West is not good tbh. Most believe western women to be very promiscuous and easy, hence will always try ‘their luck’ whereas their own women are a lot more conservative and rigid and carry themselves differently.. Maldives I thought was much safer in that regard, and the men more better behaved due to it being a tourist destination, sadly that does not seem to be the case, and seems attitudes have not changed much either. I’m glad he lost his job! They wouldn’t dare try that with a female in their own country.

@@aziza000 Thanks for the explanation. I was not aware of that they don’t think well about females of Western countries, but treat their women well. I’m happy they do respect the women of their own country. I will still travel to the Maldives, also as a solo female. Most staff on the Maldivian tourist islands are very kind people.

@@MissRed92837 tbh I wouldn’t say they treat their women well per se, well not in my country they don’t there are many issues with harassment, rape, domestic violence, rampant misogyny etc.. but they won’t ask for sex or a kiss to a local lady so casually, that is stepping a massive line and will cause lots of issues for them particularly with the lady’s family. That would also get them a slap or a beating from the lady herself! It’s not unusual for a women to hit back her harasser in those countries. And I have seen videos of foreign women in for instance Tunisia or Turkey where the local men are being very forward or suggestive or flirtatious - I just can’t imagine them doing that with their own women, without getting an instant shutdown! About the solo travel, I would love to do that but have no guts hence found myself on ‘travelling alone as a female’ videos 😭

Yes I did!! I was also so nervous to take the subway, but it’s actually very easy! If you have Apple Maps you can put in your destination and it’ll tell you exactly which subway line to take, how many stops, etc. I think google maps probably has the same feature.
