Where is your fishing rod!?! LOL. Just picked up my V7. Not the "warmest" season for my part of the hemisphere. But, if air temps are above freezing, will start some remount practice (will let my 5/4 wetsuit take care of the water temp). 🥶

I was hoping for a fish to land into the footwell 😂 I went 3 times into the fish and birds. I was a bit worried with the birds diving because some of them were quite large, like the gannets. It is great you got the V7! You will have no problem remounting it. If you do it would be because of the cold affecting you. It is also super stable. I went out again with it today and keep framing my daughter paddling her Fenn Bonito. There were some big swell but zero problem. Nearly reached 15km/h which is 9.3mph effortlessly on a swell. The V7 can be used for fishing.

Kia Ora fellow Aucklander! That's an interesting kayak! I only came across this video as I'm trying to find out more about the yak after seeing one for sale on trademe... Mckee Plastics seem to be a farm products supplier for the most part, so I am wondering if you know how they came to making kayaks? I can't seem to find out much about the kayak anywhere on the web, so do you know where I could see/buy one? It sounds pretty fast, but how stable is it? At first I didn’t like it because it felt heavy but the more I paddle it the more I appreciate it. It is remarkably stable in very choppy water, and it can lean so easily. It is still new to me, I have paddled it only 5h. It needs an airbag or two to be on the safe side. The little day hatch needs a bucket or a net so items don’t fall all the way down. The rear hatch is cavernous but the front hatch is tiny. I managed to put an airbag there. Have you rolled it like a sea kayak? I haven’t tried yet but as soon as I am back I will try it. I have never paddled a ski with a double footwell. Are there any advantages? Any disadvantages?
@kayakintro
@kayakintro 29 күн бұрын
@@larscrantz The only advantage is the double footwell allows less water to stay in the bucket. Same with the big hump under the knees. Disadvantages would be less leg drive because your legs are more locked in, and a wider hull at feet level. Some spec surfskis used by life guards still use the double footwell. I don’t mind the double footwell but I don’t like when the bump under the knees is too high. For your height and long legs you should be fine 🤣

Hi thank you. It is a quite common robust kayak, I have seen a few around. It’s really fast for its length and easy to carry. The paddle isn’t that short, it is 205-215cm. It is this one: www.orkapaddles.com/shop/paddles/orka-paddle-super-flex-pro/

Now we're talking:)! Put me in a NK Nitro 600 there and I would be lost forever😂🤣! What's the name of that bridge?

It’s Auckland Harbour bridge! Sometimes you see people falling with bungee jumping 😂 I think you could do well with a NK 600 here 😂 There were a few paddlers that capsized that day, one was on a V9. The up and down at the start of the video was quite intense. I need to put the downwind bit that follows this clip at normal speed and to upload it.

@@kayakintro Naa, with those choppy waves coming from all directions I wouldn't stand a chance in a Nitro. The Fenn Blue-Fin S that I paddle sometimes would be perfect there though...😎

@@larscrantz Yes, the Bluefin would be great there. The V7 was fine, I believe the flexible plastic helps! The worst would be a full carbon elite surfski 🤣

I agree with our friend from the Netherlands, beautiful colour of the sky. Great choppy sea as well, I love to paddle in those kinde of waters. I see some sailboats out, must be terrific wind to be sailing in...😊

@@larscrantz Thank you. It is often windy but with the wind taking you offshore. I don’t mind when it takes me back but offshore it’s more annoying 😂 At least I do have some islands I could stop.
