I love your stuff man. I found you because back in the day I loved a band called Cast Iron Filter, who afaik coined the term "Irongrass" to describe their rock + tradgrass style. I still use the term myself, but almost no one understands what I mean. So I googled to see if anyone else is still embracing the name Irongrass, and here we are. You're amazing, dude.

In my country, I can only afford a Chinese 400/1000 aluminum oxide stone. It still works.

Hello John, I have watched this video about 10 times. I always come back here if I catch myself of thinking that I need a 5000 grid stone. Your video always gets me back to the ground. Always a pleasure to see you sharpening. It seems to me that you use relatively high pressure on the strop. I have the Norton stone, but struggle a bit with stropping to razor sharp. Is the pressure you use on the strop the same as on the stones? Best Regards Matthias

You teach very well & detailed. You have links to songs. Excellent teaching and reference method. Been playing on & off for 40 years due to hand issues. So whether you are a beginner or an oldie that needs a refresher, Mr. Moore is great. Thank you you very much Mr. Moore & yall keep this music alive for future generations. Pick & Roll on :)

The bridge on mine looks nothing like yours. I am still new to the instrument, having only been playing for a few months. There is definitely a learning curve here. I shudder to think of changing the skin when the time comes. Keep on a-pickin' and a-grinnIn'.

I have an Earl Scruggs Mastertone which I like. I had and sold a Gibson RB-250. I regret selling it. It was easier to play and just sounded good.

I inherited one of these after my grandfather passed away its an old Gillette from the 1920s never used a safety razor in my life. Only used cartridge razors up to that point. I shaved with the safety and it gave the best damn shave I've ever had. Blew all cartridge razors out of the water needless to say I threw out All my disposable and cartridge razors and never looked back Safety razors are literally better in every way just takes a little practice

I'm fairly new to using a safety razor and have struggled to get a good lather, so this really helped. And as a Brit, I could listen to John's voice all day - beautiful smooth Southern accent!

Boiled linseed oil offers excellent protection. I coated 20 ft deck over trailer until it quit soaking in. Used 4 gallons. I only did it once and trailer is now 20 yrs old. Never replaced a single board. I don't even have a single board with any rot! I'm a firm believe. I don't care what anybody says, I go with my personal experience. It works!

I completely agree with you. I made a butcher block style countertop and used boiled linseed oil on it. I did 10-12 applications over 2 weeks and let it cure for a week in the summer heat before using Varathane Ultimate water base over it. Several very thin coats of the Varathane before I installed it. It's now 7 years later and I've never had to do anything to touch up. Not one stain no water marks not even hot pans leave a mark on it. Anyone that doubts BLO needs to learn how to apply it properly.

As an experienced guitar player and complete noob on the banjo, I just have to say I so appreciate your videos I just discovered. I'm just getting started and I had problems with my picks falling off and trying to figure out how to hold my hand and just all of it. And your no nonsense, intelligent approach - not dumbing it down method is just perfect for me. I thank you so much. You saved me so much time just now! 👍

Also, IMHO, as hard as u pick I thing ur tone would be awesome if u used an 11 guage on first and fifth and 12 on second and 13 on third, which happens to be what "The King of Tone" Sonny Osborne used
