Chicago is like a high-crime island in an otherwise relatively safe Midwest. It has some obsolete infrastructure and lacks the charm of Boston. Its downtown grandeur is severely diminished by its gangster population. Shocking crime occurs in some of the most expensive shopping avenues nowadays in Chicago! NOBODY seems to mention the egregious illegal immigration problem that Chicago has. I guess that means half of Chicago's population will be deported now that Trump won. BOSTON is NOT perfect, but it's not on the decline like Chicago, which keeps losing population and even its sports teams are permanently exiling themselves. EMBARRASSING!!! There will be NO Chicawgaw Bears anymore, or White Stinky Socks!!! Utterly emblematic of Chicawgaws's decline. I challenge anyone to argue otherwise. So BOSTON is the one headed for a bright future! Chicawgaw is sinking into Lake Michigan like Detroit. Sorry. Truth Hurts.

Galena is overrun with tourists, seriously, don't bother...Decorah is perfect, almost too perfect, but still amazing. Mount Vernon is nice. Visited Oberlin as a child--a good memory. Would like get to Holland some day.

I love Boston, it was the first city I lived in after leaving the military, I went to college in Boston, I got my first civilian job ever in Boston. Boston will forever have a special place in my heart. However, I moved to Chicago 2 years ago and Chicago is a better city in every single way.

Chicago for the win! It is not even a comparison. Chicago is in the top 3 food cities in the country, landing at #2 just behind New York. All the crime stuff you hear is usually in the South and west sides of the city. Just like any city, there will always be crime, but funny when people believe everything they hear on the news. Chicago is booming with rich culture and a plethora of unique neighborhoods. Awesome Bar scene, food scene, the most events hosted of any city, street fairs always happening, sports city, amazing art scene, Orchestra, museums, Downtown is gorgeous, tho it has looked better, but the secret of Chicago is in its amazing neighborhoods. Always something to do in Chicago as the 3rd largest city. Boston is great in its own way too but it is not even in the same league as Chicago.

I was born and raised in Boston and have lived in NYC for most of my adult life. There is absolutely no comparison...Chicago is absolutely a much better city than Boston...in every imaginable way. Try comparing Boston to Cleveland...makes more sense.

2nd highest drug addiction, and 2.6 percent of all homeless in the US. Jeez, I wonder if there might be a relationship there. We keep being fed this unaffordable housing nonsense as the reason for all these homeless encampments when it's actually drug addiction, plain and simple. These people have to steal, so citizens and local businesses are all victims. It shouldn't be tolerated, at all.

For me, it’s really a no- brainer: Miami is sweltering hot and excessively humid all the time, like being in a hot shower all day, whereas San Diego has the second best pleasant climate on the planet, after the Canary Island. Do we really need to compare which is better?

Boston all the way better food, milder winters, better culture, not to mention Chicago has a lot higher crime and you have better chance of getting robbed or shot in Chicago. even in the downtown/nice areas.

The property tax rate given for Austin, while correct is a bit misleading. That’s the rate for a relatively small segment of the metro area. Once you get into the areas around Austin city limits itself, property taxes shoot up to anywhere from 3-5%. These areas are where most people live. We were paying $900/month in property taxes on a $250K house.

I loved living in Philly but had to move bc there were just no jobs there. I loved my apt there and when I left in 2015, the rent was $1700 with parking and now the rent there is $2700! How can people afford that there?
