Will you comment the recent livestreams about rune factory guardians of Azuma? They showed switch footage from the japanese livestream, and the framerate looks pretty good! I'd love to hear your opinions on what we've been shown

Looks great! It honestly gives me Genshin vibes, which makes it welcoming for those outside the genre, I suppose. Hopefully they won’t price it too high.

my old potato pc had a really really hard time keeping up with the guardian of the forest [i forget the name] i imagine you crash on constant loop if you get there on this version.

It really turns me off when a game has DLC at release. I honestly feel like the Story of Seasons and Rune Factory games have all gone downhill in most of the recent entries and I am skeptical of getting this one. Which really makes me sad because I have loved them since Harvest Moon on the SNES. I just feel like I can get an experience I enjoy more out of 12-30$ games made by indie developers nowadays.

Looks like it still has the issue of all the "furry playable options" just being humans with animal mouths.

This game looks in all ways like my homework/creations in my game-artist school (one i went to from 18-22 idk what the proper name is in english but i got a diploma/degree from it). From the lack of proper text in the UI to the movement, to the 3d look and feel, to the UI designs. It's like a group of 5man started the education and immediately went with putting it up for money instead of using your first works to learn and get experience with... It sounds very harsh I know, but it really gives me this vibe and I cant see any positives.

I love RF, was really disappointed with RF5 and Guardians of Azuma looks really great and I'm so hyped for it! (Also like 15 marriage candidates? Mercy! I'm going to be playing this game a lot lol). (I'm so romancing Subaru first 😳).

I'm super excited for Guardians of Azuma because although I played RF5 a lot, I wanted to enjoy it but it just wasnt as good as the other RF games and was a huge disappointment to me and Guardians of Azuma looks like they listened to the feedback so I'm really hopeful. I actually had no idea there was going to be a new SOS! I'm excited. Although I hope they learned from Winds Of Anthos and they make the open world more interesting instead of empty and a bit boring 😅. And also Fantasy Life looks fun! I didn't play the first one so this looks cool.

This game is way too addicting for how short it is. I do hope they expand on the story further (which seems likely) but I'd also like some other things to grind out on the side such as having your own home you can decorate by collecting rare things while fishing or completing more grind intensive challenges. I find it pretty relaxing to just kick back and fish, and despite having over 50 hours in the game and have completed it 3 times, I still try to login daily for a short grind. Right now I'm just trying to catch each of the possible SeaAZ at least 100 times to give myself something to work towards. I just feel like I'm not quite done with the game yet but there's nothing left to do!

I'm so excited for your review on this one when it comes out!! I've been wanting to get back into Rune Factory and I LOVE town building games like Dark Cloud 2. I hope the mechanics of the game are good and everything fits together well.

There's a game called Harvest Town...which is basically Starved Valley...if it was made by a greedy CN company. A Freemium game that takes all the fun out of it...

Honestly I really don't like the crafting direction specifically, it drops all of the in-depth crafting mechanics from the previous games in exchange for a generic crafting NPC UI. The complexity of the crafting system was a significant component of both combat and farming that removing it doesn't only trivialize the crafting, it trivializes the rest of the game mechanics. Not a big fan of the art style either. It is definitely a big upgrade from RF5, but that's such a low bar it's hardly a notable comparison. IMO it's still a major step down from all of the 2D Rune Factory games, including the very first one on the DS. The 2D maps are so much more beautiful and detailed than the 3D map that looks just like any other BOTW/Genshin clone. Additionally, 3D character models will never match the expressiveness of the 2D sprite portraits. 3D is also significantly more susceptible to time with 2D visuals holding up significantly better over time. One thing I'm hoping they keep is the skill system that the previous games have had, where basically every action from fishing to getting hit with ailments can be "leveled". It's such a unique and novel system and it honestly makes doing random things in the game feel so much more rewarding. I always felt they never leaned into the unique skill system as much as they could have, but unfortunately based on the crafting changes, I'm not holding my breath.

This vaguely reminds me of "Yonder", a rather pleasant game with fishing that was pretty pleasant. Pleasant. Bleh words. Also, don't play GTA6. It's going to be a microtransaction cash grab.

3 and 4 are my favorite of these games of all time. I like 3 for the speedy nature of it, and 4 for going back to the roots with expanded farming and long dungeons. 5 or the wii games didn't really jive. I think they were better off with the overhead camera which keeps things fast flowing.

I'm relieved that the marriage candidates look more like adults in this one, or at least that there's more variety. No judgement towards other opinions, but I felt a little weird with how youthful the ones in RF5 seemed. Wouldn't have cared as much if I was still a kid/teen but I was more interested in the shop keeper NPCs lol

"With how much they're avoiding ts, you'd never guess these developers are British," absolutely SLAYED me. Thank you for reviewing these games as they come out, josh. You're saving so many people money! ETA: thank you for your honesty and integrity when reviewing games you were given keys for. I trust you the most when it comes to reviews of simlife, farming games etc. Which are some of my favorite genres.

Played the demo last year and had the exact same problems, the floating cherry included. It seems they didn't change or even fix anything since they published the demo last year. Asking that much money for such *** is a rip off in my opinion!

The best part of the game is the self-aware loading screen. The devs obviously realized how horrible the load screen was, but sold their “finished” game at $25 anyways. They put more effort into adding snarky text and advertising than into making the gameplay enjoyable. The load screen said we’re having fun, so I guess we should have been convinced? The concept of farming in the sky and raising cute creatures could have been good in theory though. And what’s with the sounds some of the creatures make? I personally can’t listen to the cottontail sound anymore. It’s oddly sensual.

This game definitely seems right up my alley! I’ll keep an eye on it for when it updates! Also it makes me think that there should be a fishing game from the fish’s perspective if there isn’t already. Like you fight to gain bobbers and bait to level up your fish.

I would have been able to cope with some graphical bugs and ugly UI if the gameplay was good, but there are so many bugs it is absolutely not worth the price. The little bits of meme humour are weird, too - if the developers don't take the story and immersion of their game seriously, why should I? It's a lot easier to have a light, quirky tone if you think of your own in-theme jokes.
