I used to know an epeist who had this habit . All I have to do was waiting for the right moment and then Boom . Fleche. He won the bout but this point was mine .

23:33 to me the primary reason why the ref abstained on the 1st 14-14 hit was because Macchi back-stepped whilst approaching Cheung (see 22:54 of kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5TKnKR-o6yBjbM)... were it not for the stepping back, I think Macchi would have got it

Our coach once told me the most important thing to teach new fencers is to LOVE the sport, and that seems to be exactly what Ota is teaching here!

It's probably not fair to judge based on this camera angle but it sure looks too high doesn't it. To be line, it has to continuously threaten target and this camera angel sure makes it look like it's too high, which you can see a bit from where he hand ends up on the hit.

Heh....I ran an armory clinic at Team Touche in San Diego -- Nicole's club at the time -- along with their in-house armorer...Tedd Padgitt -- her coach -- was wearing the same blue jacket as he is here! I understand Nicole is out of the game now...hip issues from her signature move...NOT surprising at all,TBH.

What would happen if someone just threw the blade at the opponent? Would that count as contact and an instant win?

One of my favourite mindgames in fencing is when i pretend my hand is tires (so the blade of rapiers go down) that makes me a easy target, but in right moment i just contr-attack and earn the point. It sometimes pulling off even on veterans in fencing

Reminds me of that time my opponent just… got down and did a _roll_ towards me. I was so dumbfounded that I didn’t stab him as he was rolling, and didn’t react in time when he got out of the roll and directly into a stab. He hit. I’ll never forget that

Hoping USA revamps its squad for 2028. This was a disappointing Olympics for them. MCW should be replaced, and not sure if Meinhardt and Massialas will continue, so the door is open. It'll be important to bring in some new guys for the future.

How can anybody look at 0:42 and take foil seriously, the dude is running forward head first, his tip in the air BEHIND HIM for over 15m. It makes no sense.

I mean… none of the Olympic fencing styles are particularly realistic. Épée even isn’t particularly realistic. End of the day, it’s a sport.
@zilliq-qz5uw
@zilliq-qz5uw Ай бұрын
@@andrewli6606 sure épée is not realistic either but at least the goal of épée is to hit without getting hit, you cannot run head first and hide your blade behind your back to avoid losing the right of way

@@bibblingcattywampushe's fast but it's not really agressive if his tip is behind his back. He's only allowed to do this dumb maneuver because of right of way and 300ms lockout time

You see the issue is that we no longer play to first blood and so even the most grazing hit counts encouraging these strategies of trying to hit your opponent just before they hit you
