Hi, thank you for the very helpful video. Can you suggest any alternative to Loxeal 4 please? It seems to be very difficult to get hold of in the UK, unless buying a large quantity which is very expensive! Thanks

These days we use Haynes Lubrifilm Plus instead of the Loxeal. Can you find the Haynes Lubrifilm Plus?

How do you compare the Pavoni with the Vectis? Especially in terms of mouth feel (full Body)? I used to have a Pavoni and now I have a pump driven machine. The Pavoni could make much thicker espressos. How does the Vectis compare? Because I definitely want a lever machine again, but this time with good temperature stability
@palefireАй бұрын
In comparison, the Pavoni is a fun vintage toy and with some modifications and training one can pull acceptable shots with it. The Vectis has a full size 58mm group, is temperature stable, a steam wand that blasts with power. It's what the Cremina pretends to be but at half the price.

How about with a potentiometer or something similar that is easily adjustae
@palefire2 ай бұрын
A potentiometer is a variable resistor. That would be completely useless. One could install a PID system to regulate the temperature (and thereby the pressure) instead of the pressostat regulating the pressure (and thereby the temperature) but the beauty of this Vectis machine is its simplicity. If you want to complicate it, then either get the Londinium LR24 (very easy to use, very complex inside) or build your own modifications (fun!).

With the Vectis is it recommend to do a cooling flush pre shot. That's dependant on roast style vs shot temperature. Would love the LR24 but space is limited and the Vectis i can squeeze into my coffee corner vs LR24
@palefire4 ай бұрын
@@jiinx72 no flush needed. Actually a flush heats up the group extra. So with a light roast a pre-shot flush would help ‘tame’ the rather light roast.

@@ian.swift.31614 I know it can seem like that, but really they're just animals. They don't have the brain capacity for malice. It can be intimidating when they fly near but that's not always aggression! A lot of times they're just investigating. If you're calm around them, they usually just check you out and then leave. The only time I was ever stung was because I trapped one with my foot when I stepped in tall grass. Really, a completely understandable reason to sting. I'd probably do the same if I thought I was about to get squashed by a giant.
