Really appreciate your video! I really am surprised why there is not more content about this material. I initially printed some stuff with PLA with next to no issue even as a beginner - but that really does not apply to Silk filament! I will try what you recommend and hope results will improve - at least as far as it can get with that "Bresser Silk Copper" filament I bought for cheap and which is still making some pop sounds here and there even after hours of drying. Wish me luck! =D

Ive got a Ender3 V3 and it has layered shifted 3 times, seems to only do this on long printing times, doing a feral predator which is a large model, however, on the smaller print models i dont get any layer shifts, could it be the belt?

@@deadpoolslovechild often times on long prints bed adhesion is the issue. What adhesion do you have and have you enabled z hop?

Good video. Like the lateral think about the reptile mat. I get locked in sometimes in 3D printing - 3D parts. Btw, my kid used to call it Darkling-duck and was his favorite (mine as well)

Yea you could go further and wire up pc fans but you have to weigh the cost in. A basic filament dryer is $40 bucks so my idea was to keep it dirt cheap lol I loved Disney afternoons as a kid…talespin,rescue rangers,gummi bears,Darkwing duck. Those were the times

I'm having issues with my primers seemingly not adhering or curing on my prints after pre sanding with 150 gouges right down to the PLA layer with a fingernail even after 48 hour dry time. Have you had any success with a dusting layer of adhesion promoter or etching primer first?

The K1 max and the Sovol sv-08 are currently the same price and I just can’t decide which one to get. I know one is closed and the other is not. Also, one is slightly bigger. This will be my second printer as I have had a Bed slinger for approximately nine months. What would be your suggestions?

@Darkwingdad everytime I try to do the tune..it crashes my system, so I'm not even sure what it does. I did set extruder to .6. Retraction is default by test..nothing was better. I have gotten good prints but last few nights I tried white lithophane, gold silk, and multi color silk. With all failures. They start good, and then get destroyed

What does the self-etching primer do?

@@davisrob prevents leeching. So whenever you’re doing a colored base the self etching prevents over saturation occurring. It acts as a sealer & adhesion promoter in 1. It’s especially good on yellows,whites and metallic golds

That bubble level is no good unless the table, the floor the table is standing on and the foundation of the floor the table is on are all flat. You want to level the gantry to the print bed so a ruler I think would be a better option

@@davidflanders8516 contractors have used levels for decades on un even surfaces and still make foundations etc level. Obviously you need a level surface or table as I mentioned but the ground is irrelevant. You could use a ruler sure, but flat table and the level works fine every time.

@ 100% there are many sandable primers that are filler/sandable & this is one of them. I’m working on the test now that compares all these, you’ll be surprised how well it does!

I raise reptiles, and there are controls for heating pads so you can control the temps on them just so you know . they run about 32 bucks for combo, or about 16 for the temp control alone.

I’m actually involuntarily breeding crested geckos but they are one the easiest & don’t need high heat(more stable humidity than anything) but when I had my beardie & jacksons I had a lot of heat devices with timers,delays etc. good to know they have control modules now, I just had old school plug in timers or did it manually lol

@@Darkwingdad Yeah im down to only crested geckos here in Washington state. Gets cold in winter so have to use them on sides of tank durring winter to keep them warm enough. Mainly used them on leopard geckos, and my ball pythons.

This video 🥹. Logan’s mom here - we don’t even know what to say! This helmet was everything and more than Logan had hoped for. Even with the shipping damage it was easy to repair and it looked so great for Halloween.
