Finally someone who has grasped the essence of true Zen, to many bogus teachers out there, one thing on the last part of the wind bell and sound reaching one's ear. It's always a relative function, as there is no sound without the relavance to an ear drum, so both the sound and the ear is one happening, i don't believe we humans are a small part/feature of this universe i believe we are the whole happening.

Good to Zazen but i think the teacher saw a thought not something real maybe, the boy maybe was in the true? because we can get different colors sound or taste because we are unique as individuals i think. Vibration of thoughts
@pluckpack5 ай бұрын
btw this has nothing to do with Zazen or the acting of sitting itself, it's actually an attitude that you can have towards any aspect of your life. treat everyone with kindness without expecting anything in return, do your best at your job without expecting any rewards think about life without expecting any answers. realize that you are already full and that you don't need anything from this world

Actually, it is possible that Dogen didn't understood the deeper meaning of that koan with the bell and wind. That koan is not for understanding with the mind, of course, but for producing a spontaneous awakening. The answer of the student, that the sound is produced in the mind, means something much deeper. The sound, the bell, the wind, and the entire universe (the manifestation) appear in consciousness, in the waking state. But this consciousness of who is it? To whom it belongs? .... All is appearing in the consciousness of an impersonal and misterious witness. Whithout this, there is no universe, no totality, not even the concept of nothing. But can this awareness-witness be oher than youself, can it be different than yourself, the true self?.... So, the koan, brings the attention instantly, in a so subtle place, where is introducing for the first time, the key to the secret of this universe. Oh, but this are just concepts...

Zazen is the simplest practice and because of that the mind finds it the most difficult. The mind always wants something complicated so it asks for techniques and complicated stuff but zazen just sitting boggles the mind and it makes up a million excuses to do other things to get out of it. Making it complicated. For me the desire for zazen came only after years of many other spiritual practices and eventually it led to the most simple one of all. Now I just sit and by the end of the sitting I feel so peaceful, my heart feels cleansed and open and free. Those are just the experiences or effects of it but there is no goal. Just sit- because that is the goal in itself. When we do different activities there seem to be some goal to attain, but this is doing the activity for its own sake. Just sitting is the joy and surrendering any fruits of this action

give up without even trying is what it conveys. you try to take the fear away with this mindset because you tell yourself there's no challenge and the voice inside of you is saying: " hey you, don't worry because you're not going to anything, you're just an observer not a participant, you don't need a change." and that is fatal my friend. you just need to come in peace with yourself.
