can't relate but will take this as a good warning type video xd. To be honest I've already had similar feelings in a relatively shallow way I'd say.

I used to made video's for a firm in Thailand. It paid the bills but it overstresssed me! I got that same feeling when I hear you talk. Hope I am wrong. Would say , slow down. And make more gold then silver.

Thanks for the honest review. I consiered the Move, but ended up going for a Push 3 when they were on sale recently. It's been great to get me back into making beats after getting frustrated with the PC experience and giving up a couple years ago. If you haven't already seen it Jay Hosking did a nice little live jam to demo the Move kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5CsZIyVd6qlrNk

This reminds me of when I switched from an office job to freelancing while working from home. Spending days not really talking to anyone was a bit grim. It's a shame coworking spaces aren't really compatible with music work. Could you maybe do one day a week at one, which is specifically an admin/editing day or something. I found it super helpful to still have a space with people I actually knew, to the extent that we could have proper "oh, how was the __ you were gonna do at the weekend" type conversations. Beyond that, sociable hobbies are also great. You'd probably be great at swing dancing (aka Lindy Hop). The classes are normally super friendly, with some amount of hanging out/practicing afterwards.

this may be such a stupid question but how did u extract the drums from these tracks? did you recreate them or use a program? i'm a bit of a beginner and i've been trying to figure out how to isolate drums/instrumentals/vocals for sampling

I'm 36 and I can't relate to this at all. I own a successful recording studio I'm pretty successful in my music career over all I sell my beats all the time and gig. The trick is just not to give up. Spend all day everyday doing it. And sacrifice literally everything else out of your life.

34 here. Working a shift job (6am-15pm, 15pm-00am) and it just physically DRAINS me, if Im doing the early shift I can manage an afternoon session, a couple times a week, but if im doing the night shift, I just can't function in the mornings, Ill end up waking up at noon, eating Lunch and going to work and my day is done, and I hate feeling unproductive eventhough Im working my job and Im getting paid for that one, at least 😂 its just stupid 😂 As for creativity I never had that issue, thankfully, my problem is having too many ideas and not enough time to try them out or not having the right skills to translate them propperly (not a great piano player and I cant play guitar for shit eventhough I try a lot 😂). But the thing I struggle the most with, is limited resources. Not having enough money to not work a regular job and not making enough money from your music, and THEN, on top of that, your PC breaks down, your interface gets fried or stops working, that next plugin/piece of gear costs a fortune and by the time you get it, its already obsolete 😂 the issue is always the resources and every time you solve one of those issues it feels like a huge step back. Still, we keep making music. Because once you get behind those keys, once you start writting those lyrics, once you record that demo, once you finish that mix... You get reminded EVERY SINGLE TIME, why you love it so much. No matter the money, no matter the energy, the time, the outcomes and the bumpy roads life throws at you... You just get something out of it that nothing is ever going to replace. ❤ If I could give anyone a tip it would be this: Dont take yourself too serious but do make time for it. 1% everyday is 365% advancement at the end of the year and 1% is manageable. Write some lyrics while waiting for someone, or in your job's downtime (instead of scrolling through IG or watching tiktok, or whatever), jot down a melody on your phone's voice memo, for later. Brainstorm concepts for projects and break them down, how many tracks? what connects them? Etc... Pick up your guitar, 5mins, 10mins, get the reps in. Fire up your DAW, make a Preset on a Synth, even if It sounds like shit, save it. Make a Couple drums, I made 2 drum kits just banging shit around my house and at my job, recorded the RAW sound with my Phone, synthesized the rest and processed it, had a ton of fun and made some cool sounds. All these things are fast and can be broken down to some minutes everyday. This way, you're doing something music related, feel creative and inspired more often and you feel like you're not standing in the same place. 1% every damned day. Just do something, anything. ♥️

Toured the world for years as a session musician and I know guys who've literally became millionaires in their 40s (from making music. Lots of ppl use their age as an excuse as to why they can't do something but you usually find that those people made the same excuses at 22 as they will at 32, 42 etc. Don't be those guys lmao

I'm 48 with three kids. I make beats almost everyday. It's my favourite way to unwind. If I make music I feel like I've used my time well. If I play a game on the PC instead I feel like I've wasted my time. The main problem is finding time. You've got to grab time either in the early morning before the kids wake up or an hour late night after they sleep.

As someone who just focuses on putting vocals on instrumentals/beats, I'm not sure if there is much of a reason to upgrade from 11 to 12 unless anyone else knows of any features I'm missing out on. I'd like to upgrade but does anyone know if they do anything better on 12 with vocal production?

Great video, I could relate to a lot of things . BUT … 🙂 I’m approaching my 50ties and let me tell you something : from a musical point of view, I absolutely DON’T regret my 20s, or my 30’s. I’m a better pianist / keyboardist than I ever was, I’ve learned to finish my tracks, to the point that I have made professional OSTs for documentary movies and that my first album will come out soon, I have access to studio gear I could only dream of back in the days… With age comes experience, efficiency and confidence. From this perspective it’s a blessing to grow older.

Reached 30 this year and just started making beats. It's a bit challenging to fully focus on making music when you work 5-8, but it is important to treat it as an enjoyable hobby and not blame yourself for not producing fast enough. Just enjoy learning and trying out new things.
