Im an American student looking to transfer to st.andrews, do you think it's worth traveling overseas for ?

I stayed for a few weeks in the original David Russell Hall (now demolished and where the apartments are now built) and it's not really that far out at all. It might be by St Andrews standards (but St Andrews is tiny; it's more like a university campus that just happens to include the town), but not far by most other unis. And DRA are ideal for Astronomers as the observatory is so close.

Do you think you can still enjoy Freshers if you dont drink? Im starting in september, but i don't drink due to religious reasons

I’m at a completely different part of the uni journey (first year) but I can confidently say first year sucked for me and it hurts that for most people, this was their best year. For similar reasons, I also got super ill and recovering from it took MONTHS. I also had done a gap year and so getting into the flow of doing academic work again after covid was super challenging. I met so many people and yet made no long lasting friends. I was so emotionally drained this year. Even learning how to adult sucked, in spite of knowing how to cook and get on with my life already. I also realised I really hate my main degree and am now switching to something I haven’t done in years and have no idea whether I will be good at it. It’s upsetting because I thought I was a really mentally strong person and yet uni completely wrecked me that I have little confidence in myself moving forward. Thanks for sharing all this, it means a lot to feel like you’re not alone.
