I just keep popping back up after seemingly uncrouching but staying low to the ground. Is there a problem with the Gamecube version or am I doing it wrong?
@FitterSpaceКүн бұрын
That's perfectly normal. This happens because you can't just clip through walls anywhere, only in certain spots. When you stand up and pull out a weapon or gadget at the same time, you also need to move underneath something that prevents you from standing up again. You can find spots like this if you crouch and walk around, then try to stand up normally. If you the game doesn't let you stand up when you press X or Y, that means you can do the out of bounds trick there. For example, there is a lot of furniture in The Exchange you can crouch under, like tables, desks, and chairs. To clip through them, you need to crouch beside them, stand up while switching to a weapon or gadget, then move under that furniture before Bond stands up all the way. Eventually, Bond will pop back up like you mentioned before, but this time, he'll be part of the way through the floor. Crouch again and he'll fall through.

@@FitterSpace I tried it in a spot that should work because I saw a video of someone doing it there. Must be a timing issue then. I was standing up, switching weapons and moving forward all at once but it sounds like I should wait a couple frames before moving then? Thanks for the quick reply!
@FitterSpaceКүн бұрын
@@mronewheeler Possibly, yeah. You may also have to keep moving in the direction toward whatever you're trying to clip under. Technically, all that matters is that you're underneath the object on the frame that Bond pops up after his standing animation ends and that you're moving in that direction.

How do you TAS
@FitterSpace2 ай бұрын
The idea is that you play a game in an emulator and use the tools they have such as savestates, the ability to rewind, and slow motion to play the game perfectly. While you're doing that, you record your controller inputs and play them back at full speed. Of course, there's a lot more to it than that, but that's the basic idea. If you want to, you can get really in the weeds with all the crazy stuff emulators let you do, but the nice thing about TASing is that it's only as complicated as you want it to be.

100% Speedruns don't require that one for a few reasons. The main one is that it didn't count for anything at launch, and that's when most speedruns of this game happened. Eventually, with the 1.1 update, they added an acknowledgement for it on the end results screen, where it says "+???". This was mainly added for non-steam players since they won't have achievements, and the developers wanted to reward those players for finding that room. The main issue with the +??? on the final results screen is that it will be there whether you visit the room or not, which you can see at the end of the video. There's no way to "un-find" that room without uninstalling the game, and so the speedrun rules weren't changed when that was added. The game considers true 100% to be when you get the kiss on the final results screen, and that doesn't require visiting the Twin Peaks room in z3a2, the secret armor shard in z7a1, or other similar rooms throughout the game.

I was just able to get this with a time of 2:35.95 The 3 sequence breaks are by far the most important/necessary thing to remember. I hardly ever "strafe-ran" in the Road Ripper except for around turns; when it came to straight pathways, I just held down "W" and hit an occasional "Q" boost. Speaking of boosts, efficient usage of them is indeed very important; I tend to use mine right before I hit a booster ramp, for maximum air and speed (remember that you can also use them in mid-air to help clear gaps that you might not otherwise clear!). I also tend to use them if I'm about to hit a wall of enemies and the Homewrecker particles don't seem to want to kill them for me lol Lastly, use them quicksaves. Don't be afraid of them. Voidpoint thankfully didn't make it so you had to get this in one, solid run 😂

@@oxfan9384 it’s very precise. If you stand on the thing the cable is attached to, then aim your sniper perfectly down the middle of the cable and hold forward perfectly, you’ll walk across. I work with Ultimate Doom Builder for Doom and Doom 2. How simple is setting up Selaco with Ultimate Doom Builder? I'm concerned I'll screw up the setup.
@FitterSpace7 ай бұрын
It's pretty easy once you know what to do. The initial setup is the main difference between using Ultimate Doom Builder for Doom vs. Selaco. First, you need to go to Selaco's game directory and start up Ultimate Selaco Builder. You can also just hit the Play button on Steam and select the level editor option. To get the game files in the editor, you need to navigate to your game folder, open Selaco.ipk3 in Windows Explorer or 7zip, take all the files in there, and put it in a folder inside your game directory. What that means is you end up with a folder, maybe called something like "resources" or "PK3 extract", and it has all the files from Selaco.ipk3 extracted to that directory. Then, when you load up Ultimate Selaco Builder, the only thing you need to do when starting a map is to add a resource, select the "from directory" tab, then add that folder as the directory. You don't need to add GZDoom as a resource or anything else. Only use the Selaco PK3 extract directory. After that, you're good to go. It should be pretty much exactly the same as Doom, except with Selaco's assets. When you want to upload your map to the Steam workshop, go to the game directory and run WorkshopUpload.exe. All the instructions show up on the screen after that. Let me know if you have any more questions, and I'd also recommend joining the Selaco discord, because they have a channel for mapping and modding, and all the developers are really active on there.

@FitterSpace6 ай бұрын
@@daycampgames That means the resource you added didn't work. You need to make sure you took everything from Selaco.ipk3 and put it in a folder somewhere in your game directory. Then, when you're loading the map, make sure you add a resource, then go to the "from directory" tab, and select the entire folder you dropped the PK3 stuff in as that folder. After that, everything should show up.

How come you're shooting out so many civvy tires? At first I thought it was to keep them from driving into your path but that can't be it.
@FitterSpace7 ай бұрын
There are a couple of reasons. At the beginning, it's mostly for entertainment. But there are a few places like the two cars at 0:45 where I use them to force Zoe to drive closer to the left side of the road. That makes her turn that corner a little tighter, which saves time. I occasionally shoot people's tires to get them out of the way later, like the one at 1:49. What's interesting is that the cars in this game actually respawn later in the level. That means there are actually only a handful of cars in the driving levels, and the game just moves them when you drive far enough past them. I guess that was more efficient than actually having lots of cars driving around. By shooting the car's tires, you can change when they despawn, which can manipulate traffic later on.
@trekker1057 ай бұрын
@@FitterSpace when the game reuses cars, are things like blown tires preserved?
@FitterSpace7 ай бұрын
@@trekker105 They are! That's why sometimes you'll see civilian cars without tires, even if you didn't shoot them. The game just re-used a previous car that did get their tired popped.
