I went metal Tees as well. Both of my kids in college drive 100 series and my daughter kept losing coolant. Over Christmas break I pressure tested and both heater tees were bad…less than 50k miles on them. I just don’t trust plastic parts after Covid. Went metal and I forget about that issue.

I have a question I own a Land Cruiser 80 series. 2 weeks ago I replace a 02 sensor. Evelyn was fine. Until yesterday. Check engine light comes on, the code is P0420. It said the catalytic converter, problem, Question is. Do I hache to replace both catalysts or just the first one. Catalytic close to the engine. ?
@OTRAMM
@OTRAMM 7 күн бұрын
So that code doesn't automatically mean the converter is bad. You need a scan tool that can graph o2 sensor data to see if it's a sensor issue or a converter issue. As far as which converter, there's no way to tell from the data. We do both, usually with Magnaflow parts

I haven't done one of those yet. If it's like the Land Cruisers of that vintage, it's not particularly fun. Best done with a scan tool that can monitor transmission fluid temp. On the Cruiser there's a self test mode though that flashes lights at the proper temp range.

did the job today on the inside bolts...swivel extension w/12mm socket, 15 inches of extensions and a nylon prybar about an inch in width push pry bar between steering shaft boot and pedal bracket, twist 90 degrees causing about a 3./4 inch gap where you can just see the two rh nuts extension length pointing at 11 oclock put your socket just thru the gap at the top and then raise your hand end and pivot the extension length towards the nut. break loose with hand rachet and change to electric on the bottom bolt you just have to pivot your extension set up down a bit more down to where your prybar/stick of wood to get it onto the nut, break loose. gtg on reassembly dab a bit of grease into your 12 mm socket to hold the nuts while you start them again put you whole extension/socket/nut at 11 oclock just gently squeeze the socket thru the gap then pivot to aim at the studs hope this helps someone love your channel otramm

Hi Ryan Great instructional video. May I make a few observations. You had a dream run in removing components. On our Landcruiser it took 5 tonnes to press the old rotor off the bearing hub. Why didn't you show how the bearing cups were installed -- was installation as per bearing manufacturer's instructions? I would have liked to hear your explanation of why Toyota manufactured the drive axle with a M8 tapped hole in the end. Lastly the anti-rattle spring was not installed correctly. Cheers
@OTRAMM
@OTRAMM 12 күн бұрын
Wow. I've never had to press the rotors off. I've had some taken quite a bit of hammering, but never a press. I didn't show putting the races in because I didn't take them out. I just cleaned and repacked the bearings. I have no idea why the axle end is threaded. It's handy for pulling the axle out to align the snap ring though. Some older trucks used a bolt and washer instead of the snap ring so maybe it's left over from that.
@johnspathonis1078
@johnspathonis1078 11 күн бұрын
@@OTRAMM Thank you for the reply. I suspect that our vehicle did some beach driving so the salt corroded the hub necessitating pressing off. It had to be pressed off with 4 to 5 tonne all the way. In our case the outer drive hub was a tight fit on the spline. The M8 threaded hole is required to pull the drive CV drive shaft out to align the circlip groove. Why I asked was that the threaded M8 hole was not visible -- full of old grease. I measured the hole and decided to tap it out to fit a screw. To my surprise the M8 machine tap just went in nicely. To my way of thinking this is a design feature. Cheers

Hense my number #10 sequence bolt found stripped in head, fix that with x14 of M11 x 1.25 x3d inserts , do one, do em all, you’ll need a 90deg drill for aft two insitu, the torque value not on timing case video build.
