The one thing I want in an e-reader is to be able to read on Everand and BorrowBox - my library’s app of choice - so this sounds like a game changer. Thank you for this bc I had no idea anything like this existed!

BigMe is not available in my country, but I bought an Onyx Boox Kant 2 (I know that Palma is popular now, but I don't need all the features that it has, and Kant was basically half the price) this summer to supplement my Pocketbook Era (I'm Eastern European, don't like Amazon, and Kobos aren't sold here anymore) and e-readers that run on Android are a game changer. I can finally use all the book services that I have and don't use because I hate reading on my phone. I don't need a color e-reader because I prefer comics on my large tablet/physical, but you truly don't know how limiting Kindles/Pocketbooks are until you have an Android reader! Like, easy access to AO3 alone is worth it ahah

This sounds like it would be great for academic research. Whenever I travel I take my Kindle with me for reading for pleasure, but unless I lug my laptop and loads of books and papers around I can't do any academic reading and note-taking while I'm on the go. And my university library is getting more and more ebooks rather than physical books, which is a pain as I don't like reading on a laptop either, and proofs and books for review are increasingly being sent to me as PDFs which is likewise annoying.

This looks great, I've been clinging to my secondhand 2010 Kindle keyboard trying to hold out on getting a new ereader and this is the first one that looks tempting. have you tried digital Loebs on it at all?

Tomorrow, I'm venturing to Cecil Court, London to spend the day browsing among the amazing collection of antiquarian bookshops that are located in this charming street. I certainly don't require or even want an eReader. I much prefer the feel and the smell of proper books. Incidentally, Cecil Court knocks Hay-on-Wye into a cocked hat. Additionally, it is pleasingly devoid of horrid Gen Z types.

I think my personal favourite modern retelling/interpretation of the Hades and Persephone myth comes from Stray Gods (the Hades and Persephone myth isn't necessarily the focus but it does have Persephone post Hades who is very clearly still dealing with the trauma from it) it keeps the essence of the original myth despite the changes made to the lore for the game, when you talk to her she expresses nothing but love for her mother whenever the topic comes up and when you ask about Hades she says that he scared her at first and she also says that for a while she convinced herself it was okay and she loved him but eventually she couldn't lie to herself anymore (the next bit has slightly more spoilers for game lore regarding Persephone but it's all learnt in act 1 except a few lines that are from a little later but don't spoil too much beyond that) The game is set in the modern day and Persephone is introduced as the ex-queen of the underworld, when you talk to Apollo about her he basically tells you that after Hades kidnapped her and Zeus basically "solved" the issue by having them married Persephone tried to ask for help and was refused so she eventually had enough and murdered Hades in order to escape him for good but in doing so she was punished and had the title of queen stripped from her, so the Persephone you meet is understandably angry but she has various dialogue lines that show how badly it affects her still some of my favourites are "We all rot away into who we will be, you youth wasn't stolen like it was from me." and "I was alone when you know who kidnapped and crushed all my dreams..." both in the green version of challenging a queen (there are also a lot in that song in general but the special green endings have some really good ones too) and later on there are a lot of lines in the throne that I love the red version's intro definitely has my favourites like "A child in a garden, a prize for a king, property." the delivery of that one is just impeccable back to earlier Old wounds has a lot "You abandoned me to a terrible fate", "It's far too late" (in response to "You replay your injuries until it's too late") and "You know how far I bent before I snapped" and in You and I she also describes the reactions of the others as "Violent with apathy" (honestly I just adore her characterisation she's angry about what happened to her and doesn't feel like she can trust her family because they forced her to stay in a bad situation but she does soften and grow over the course of the game especially when she's given a bit of compassion since most of the other gods just sit there and call her mean, scary, bitter or complain she holds a grudge too long when they haven't even apologised. I also love that they gave her back agency in the situation by letting her get herself out of it which is definitely a take I like more than other retellings that just make the relationship consensual)

Will be watching more of your videos since I also enjoy well written gothic/horror, I've not found many other content creators who enjoy it. Have added Diavola to my wish list, it sounds intriguing. So I'll be working my way through your backlist videos and also trying to do my bit in getting your sewage situation fixed. Love your blue daisy throw btw! 😍
