Ooh, I added Cackle to my TBR because I live in Upstate NY and would love to read a contemporary fantasy set here. You've probably mentioned This Poison Heart by Kalynn Bayron before, but that's another contemporary fantasy set in Upstate NY that I've added to my TBR.

OMG I had such a good flashback to my childhood when you spoke about the Orange Fairy Book. My local library had several of the colour fairy books in the edition that you showed and I know that I took them out multiple times as I loved them so much. You’ve made me want to hunt down some second hand copies and reread them. ETA I just went and checked out how much the folio editions are selling for 😮🧡

I LOVED the Maria Dahvana Headley translation of Beowulf! I don't think it got a ton of press - I don't actually remember where I heard about it, but I'm so glad I did. I'd be curious to hear what you think once you've read it. She also wrote a retelling of Beowulf called The Mere Wife, which I haven't gotten to yet but want to.

Yess, the Hedgewitch series is so good - very cozy and comforting! I read Lolly Willowes a few years ago, and tbh, I didn't enjoy it much. Iirc it felt rather slow. Hopefully you will enjoy it more than I did!

Thanks for the video, my tbr has gotten some additions :) also, a bit off topic, but some of the books in this video made me think of a Steam (pc) indie game that might match the vibe, it’s called “Slay the Princess”. Don’t know if you or anyone in the comments play games on platforms that are not the Switch but if the horror/creepy vibe is what you’re going for this will give it to you.
