Thanks for talking about the severe pain of IBS and your experience of ER and what they did. I had this awful pain 2 weeks ago after I ate pizza, which I know I should not. I had IBS C and I couldn't be sick or even poo. The pain was absolutely awful, and I was beginning to sweat and possibly go into shock. I was scared as I was on my own at home and wonder what it would be like to faint at home. I had to ring up the A and E but I had no car to take me there and I was in pain anyway. They didn't send an ambulance but I stayed home and tried to get it all out, I did eventually. I thought I was going to die of pain. It got better after I got everything out after walking around a bit. I only got IBS in my mid 50s and I am no dairy intolerant. Since that time, I have avoided diary and I have been fine. I am going to the doctor soon to see what I have got and how I can be treated in an emergency

I know I’m 3 years late to this video so you may not see my comment, but from your other colonic inertia video, it sounds like you use laxatives regularly, when you had to take the sitz marker tests, how did you manage the week long test with out laxatives? I’ve failed doing the test twice due to not being able to stay off my laxative medication and my doctor told me the sitz marker test is the only way to test for colonic intertia so I don’t have another option.

No way to privately message you-I was able to biohack my way out of a similarly idiopathic terrible 10 year gastro problem (helped to have a molec-cellular/bio degree). The problem likely is viral induced (viral gastroparisis). Can tell you one way to fix it. Costs almost nothing. Very safe. Some effort, but worth it. Let me know...

I feel so much less alone, so tysm and I hope you're doing ok rn 💜

I'm starting to fear eating solid foods for the same reasons (nausea and pain). I keep on trying, though. I'm afraid if I switch to a liquid diet, I'll never be able to go back to eating solid food. I'm not ready for that, so I just keep eating the "safer" foods and try to get them in earlier in the day so that I have more time for my stomach to settle so that I won't be up all night in pain. My weight is still stable for now, but I don't know how long I can keep it up. I'm praying for you, sweet friend.

When I start to get discouraged, I remember a sign that I saw on a church message board that said: Count your blessings not your problems. Whenever I remember the blessings that God has given me and the hope that I have in Jesus, my problems seem so small in comparison. I even start to feel the hope of the new life that Jesus promises will outlast this one. He recently showed me this verse, and it has a lot of truth that gives hope: 2Sa 14:14 We must all die; we are like water spilled on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again. But God will not take away life, and he devises means so that the banished one will not remain an outcast. and these: Joh 11:25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, Joh 11:26 and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” I do believe this. It's my blessed hope, that Jesus is returning very soon, and those who have placed their trust in Him will have eternal life. Those who died believing in Him will receive a glorified body, and those who are still alive will be instantly transformed into a new body. In the meantime, I turn to Him when the pain is too bad or my despair is getting the better of me, and He always makes things better, sometimes by giving me an easy stomach day, sometimes by giving me peaceful sleep at night, sometimes by helping a sweet treat to not make me nauseous, little things but those little things are huge when you really need them, and He is the only one capable of knowing our pain and doing those little things for us, if we just believe. Best ones for last: Rom 8:18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. Rev 21:4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

Whoa 😳 I’m triggered. My first endoscopy/colonoscopy I was NOT sedated. It took 4 people to hold me down on the table when they attempted to insert the scope down my throat. I was then.sedated. Then I was woke up during the colonoscopy to a Dr asking questions and watching the monitors as he was removing Adenomatous polyps, a lot of polyps. I must be fully sedated for most all procedures now due to trauma. Yuk

My number 1 bad habit was probably taking Senekot S every 4th day that I hadn't been able to "go" due to a fear of the awful hard stools that would sometimes result from my 3 days of constipation. I have learned that it is much better to just increase my liquids and soft foods (especially cooked squash) on a daily basis, knowing that I'm not going to go every 3 days, but that my stool will be much easier to pass when I do finally "go" and I won't suffer the endless cramping and nausea that accompanies the "laxative days". However, I still do have those "laxative days" but they are a lot less frequent. I also have to be forgiving of myself when my nausea is high or my pain keeps me in bed and I don't drink or eat like I know I should. Sometimes it's just impossible, so I reserve the right to use those other methods when I must to keep some similarity to a normal life. Like you, though, my problem was first suspected to be IBS-C but has since been diagnosed as gastroparesis through a gastric emptying study and an abnormal Sitz marker study, so this may not apply to everyone with IBS-C, just my own experience.
@crazycatlady69223 жыл бұрын
I have a lot of food anxiety. I also eat things I know will cause me discomfort. I have the same triggers as you. Fatty foods, food with lactose, raw vegetables. But sometimes it doesn’t matter what I eat, it’s the action of eating itself. I usually skip breakfast and just drink coffee. I will eat lunch and no matter what it is, there is a good chance I will get gas, bloating and cramping. So I try to get healthy foods in, but also things I enjoy that are not necessarily good for me. It is what it is. We’re doing the best we can. Take care and I hope for some pain free moments and some solutions for your discomfort. xoxo

Thanks so much for sharing. Your video is the only one I have found so far where a person actually addresses this from a personal perspective. I have been diagnosed with gastroparesis for several years now, and have other abdominal problems due to severe peritoneal adhesions that require pain medication, further slowing my digestion and motility, despite taking Movantik to prevent the narcotic related constipation. I've also been on stool softeners, a colon cleanse pill and back and forth between Linzess and Amitiza, neither of which works for very long. I end up taking Senekot-S (with stool softener) a couple of times a week to be able to go. If I don't go, the stool has to be manually evacuated, yes, so gross. Thankfully, though, usually by the 2nd dose of Senekot-S, I'm usually able to go without a trip to the ER, but it's not a desirable option as stimulant laxatives can lessen in effectiveness with continued use, so my doctor is sending me for radiology with Sitz markers. He mentioned the possible diagnosis of colonic inertia and that there are different stages and degrees of severity. Thanks for the positive outlook, and for the reminder that we're never alone in these sorts of disorders.
