We all agree! Thank you! I make Christmas labels once a year but the software changes and the procedure steps sometimes change. I spent hours getting labels this time. I just didn't seem to follow instructions very well (I'm getting older (83). I finally discovered your tutorial. It's excellent. I did discover that one should not make the Calc column names too long. It can cause issues when you specify the field-names for fields you move to the label file. One of my fields would not merge, apparently because the field name was too large. If a field name overflows a line and/or wraps to the next line, it might not be merged in the actual label template. 5160 labels can be almost to small for some address/name combinations. Adjustments larger than a couple characters can make things even worse. I'll look for some labels that are a bit larger when I run out of the Avery 5160 labels and I'll use shorter fieldnames like yours.

I followed your great step-by-step guide. When I create the New document, the labels are blank. I then followed you guide to "automate" the process. The New document is still blank. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Any suggestions?

I needed to import ptr files rather than CSV files so I went into the macro and changed csv to ptr, this allowed me to select the ptr files however when the new workbook was launched it was empty, any advice?

Hello, I tried this shortcut and after trying it I had some issues with it. The main monitor in front of me turned off but the one next to it keeps turning off the screen and on simultaneously and if I press anything or move the mouse they I can't recover. Nor the main monitor turns back on and nor the glitch on the second monitor stops. I have to hard reset the computer.

What if your rows are not right next to each other? I am a bank manager and I am trying to create a weekly tracker for my employee's. I start with Monday December 30 2024. The next several rows is the list of the items they have to keep track of. Then there is another row of the next calendar date. How do I make these dates automatically update? Each week has it's own sheet.

I changed mine to ptr in the macro and seemed to work ok so instead of "Text Files (*csv), *csv" you should be able to put "Text Files (*.xls), *xls"
