My problem using mail merge is it doesn't remember the database the next time I open the document and have to go through the multiple steps to reconnect. Is there a way to make the connection automatic?

Hi Melissa, interesting video. I have a question and I hope you can help me, maybe you have already made a video to suggest. I would like to use the "conditional text" procedure which is similar to setting the mail merge rules in Word Office (Do you know Word? I think so). Then set a rule on the email that tells me: "if the field in Calc is equal to "A" then write (in the email) OK otherwise "NOT OK" avoiding adding columns on a calc sheet that already has lots of them. Hi Mel great little video how do you insert merge fields from just a txt file when I view the datasource its all in a line and when I try to drag and drop all the merge fields are loaded what am I missing

I have the same question. Did you get an answer? I am thinking about quitting word and changing to Libreoffice. But I need to mail merge for my forms with a lot of data other than name, address, company name, etc.

@@SoCalBruce I ended up buying MS Office 2019 because I could never find anything on LibreOffice doing a mail merge like Office does. There was quite a learning curve going from Office 2008 to Office 2019 but now that I'm getting the hang of it, it's working out OK

Very useful information. Does it just relate to just address data though? I have a LibreOffice Base database that contains data about burials and I need to produce various documents from that data. Can I specify individual custom fields? And by the way, its nice to see such a charming presenter with a lovely silky voice instead of the usual loud, in your face Americans (but I'm a Brit so very reserved of course :-))
