this video has some interesting implications for the story of the album, was the sailor originally from hawaii, had a childhood friend there (implied to be the hawaiian girl), but had to or chose to leave for a long time for one reason or another? i think thats what this is trying to say, and of course as we know he would eventually return and reunite with the hawaiian girl, and eventually they would fall in love (if thats what this video is saying). if thats what this video is saying i think their vastly different appearances at the end is certainly meant to communicate how much theyve changed since they last saw each other, but their recognition tells us they still love each other, perhaps a chance meeting and shared circumstance causes the sailor to return to hawaii, and its not actually an active choice to return, implied by the whale and octupus not choosing to go into the ocean, but instead being forced back into it by the ground collapsing beneath them, just some theories
