A fun fact about beluga whales; they open their mouth when they feel threatened. It's a sign of aggression, which we can see our beloved beluga do when he's dancing with his octopus girlfriend. Of course this could just be a smile because octopi are something to smile about. It's pretty interesting when you think about what happens later in the album methinks. Of course whether or not he feels threatened by his octopus girlfriend doesn't matter because he'll always be a cute round guy that I love

For those who wonder what the music video is about: The whale creature is representative of the protagonist of Hawaii Part II. This is a music video basically visualizing him trying to fit in and find places to belong. The whale constantly evolves and adapts to his environment. I especially find the part at 1:38 matching with the lyrics "I was a victim of magic Apollo" implying that when the protagonist tried to fit in with the group that he had met (including the smaller snake, most likely representing a potential love interest) the larger, imposing snakes attack, (most likely representing a strict father figure or protective relatives preventing said relationship) and attempt to bite the whale. He escapes, and walks a very long path of no acceptance and eventual loneliness. He falls to the ground, and sleeps for a very long time. He then continues walking, and another figure joins him, skipping along. ( representative of a new love interest that actually goes on to become his girlfriend, which is most likely the female voice we hear) The two fall down a hole and lose all of the things they used to try and fit in with other groups (the two finally accepting who they truly are) The other sea creatures stare, thinking the pair shouldn't be together, but, they are. I think this music video really does provide a good visual aid of what this song's meaning is.

I'm having a crisis about morality but this calms me down so here's a little thing I typed to get stuff off my chest. Why is life, the longest thing we'll experience, so fragile? It's not just, it's not fair; but it happens. Death is an odd thing, a little weed spreading like dandelions. Of course you can curb it, but it'll always lurk somewhere. It can hide down until you're experiencing the best spring of your life, everything having a veil of perfection.. until it shows up. I just want to say, why does it seem like the best person have the most horrific deaths? If kindness should be spread around, like seeds on a farm, why must the disperser suffer? It's cruel, but it's glorious. You could have the thrill of the wind in your hair, the joy of seeing a creature blissfully unaware of what lies in its fate.. Or you have the melancholy of being greeted to the horrific news someone you know has perished. It doesn't matter if you were connected to them deeply or if you said hi to them on a monthly basis. The end still mauls whenever it rears its head up. So life, in all of its fragility is meant to be enjoyed, like a butterfly in the breeze or a mustang out on the prairie. Life should be unbridled and serene, but it isn't. It's a chessboard of chaos and you're the most recent pawn. So, for heaven's sake, try not to get confused while you try to survive--and enjoy--the ride.

There's nothing wrong with listening to music that makes you happy, it's a powerful tool that not a lot of people use. Just be aware of the sometimes negative repurcussions of a frequent habit of venting, which I came to realize only grew roots of my unforgiveness instead of pruning them. Forgiveness goes hand in hand with understanding, and you will find true peace by loving your enemy as well as your neighbor.

I have a story I wanna tell somewhere about the name of Simon in this album, read for a long and mildly amusing story I was only introduced to the album this year. After listening to the album a few times, I looked online for the story and found this video titled something like “what I think is happening in Hawaii part ii” and it’s kind of funny. My main take away though was the main character was called Simon. When I listened to the album again, in the last song “dream sweet in sea major”, I heard the vocals at the end and I thought I heard them say the name Simon. It was in the final section and I thought the lyrics were “bye. Hi. Simon why! We never meant to part, sublime thy art” Then I looked up a lyrics video and got massively disappointed since the lyrics were ACTUALLY saying “bye, hi, SIGH HAWAII” (and I will always be mad because they say it like HUH-WAE so I would’ve never guessed they were saying Hawaii). So for a while, I was like “dang it, so Simon is just an un-cannon name or something. When will we ever get definitive information on these characters??” Then a month later from that point, I found out they released a lot of the demos for the songs and I started listening to them for fun, yknow? The pure roller coaster of emotions I felt when I suddenly heard the mind electric demos where they say “resident SIMON, how do you plead” along with the other names for it being “the mind of Simon”… are just indescribable. I couldn’t tell if I wanted to celebrate or punch a wall. Overall, love this album, please pronounce the ee in hawaii for my own sanity’s sake

i feel like the meaning of this song is a little obvious and people understand already, but im gonna paint it out for those who dont get it. or at least my own opinion. the beluga in this case, is the singer, suffering from a breakup with the octopus, which is a presumable partner. as he started to leave that life, the beluga began to change himself for others, slowly becoming more monstrous and eventually not looking like himself anymore. the snake and maybe the birds (though i doubt the birds) were lovers the beluga tried to be with, but since he really wasnt himself anymore, after turning into a flighted animal for the birds, and a snake creature for the snake, and meeting larger snakes that could hurt him, so he escaped by defending himself, growing horrid legs so he survived, but abandoning the small snake. as he grew tired of being alone, he began to ruin himself, looking unkept. but eventually he finds the octopus again, who has gone through the exact same transformations, and both of them can finally be themselves again. as for the lyrics, i think "know what cant be shown, feel what cant be known" refers to love, and how stressingly difficult it is to show. and the first verse, is referring to the breakup, which leads to him meeting the snake. the second verse, i think is the beluga meeting and eventually not feeling that the snake was the right partner. as for the bridge right after, i think its the beluga's time alone, being so tiring and depressing, as he can remember but has to try and move on. and as soon as he does, we get the final verse, where he finds the octopus again after so long. yes i know this is a lot of text, i just kinda started typing and didnt stop
