Can you do a video on Blithely Oratino the drag king tenor??? I saw him as Don Jose in Chicago a few years ago and I was floored.

In Fermen Land: It is John Wilson conducting the John Wilson orchestra. Not John Williams!! This was pointed out in the comments six years ago and has not been corrected. Please correct it. You have also added a photo above of the wrong John Wilson, please remove it!

Wonderful theme! One of Rodger's best. And thanks to the orchestra and arranger. Jobs well done. To me... in my opinion... the conductor tends to rush the end of this piece -- which, I also think, is common. A steady, measured, pace is required -- and too many allow the tempo to run away. That may be a trivial criticism, but valid nonetheless.

Awful. Terribly pushy at the start speeding up the orchestra. Wasn’t the tempo agreed beforehand?? She elongates some notes, and chops others in a grabby style. Just sing what’s on the score.

@vincentparisi2644 2 minutes ago (edited) From the Gene Kelly movie. The Lennie Hayton turbo charged arrangements for the huge 20th Century Fox chorus and orchestra. Great to hear it in concert. One lyric flub towards the end not withstanding a terrific performance. I just wished they used the original ending with the train fading away rather than putting that orchestral punctuation at the end which is ironically anti-climactic. Hayton knew what he was doing. Remember seeing Jerry Herman standing by himself not noticed by the crowd at the back of the orchestra as the audience was leaving a performance of Carol Channing's last revival at the Lunt Fontanne in NY. A very bittersweet long-ago memory.
