There was once a Saturday night opera show in New York City called "Opera Fanatic" hosted by Stefan Zucker, which would play archival performances of rare operas and other interesting bits of quirky operatic excerpts, among them one from a Tristan und Isolde performance featuring John Vickers, who, as he lies dying during the third act, can no longer deal with the coughing of an audience member and screams out "Shut up with your God-damned coughing!" which shocked me, even at my tender age, by its grotesque lack of professionalism, but Vickers always had a prickly reputation. To this day I think of that excerpt whenever I come across Vickers in any performance, and regret not being in that audience, so that I could have matched him in his disgraceful outburst by screaming back to Tristan/Vickers. "Just die already!" (sighs) I miss going to the opera. Screaming at a KZbin video just ain't the same...

He didn't use "God". The audio is available on KZbin. Just enter "Vickers shut up with your damned coughing" and it will be there. BTW The coughing stopped. Nothing unprofessional about the results. Sometimes one must go to the shocking mode to end the problems. Also, no "h" in his first name.
