Back in ‘86 or so, I was fortunate enough to take lessons with Emily for a few precious months in nyc. During that time I got a crash course in Bossa playing using this song as a starting place. I still have her hand written charts and lesson instructions buried somewhere. RIP Emily (and Astrud).

It’s so interesting that when you look at a guitar and see how it is constructed to be played with two hands and 10 fingers and then you see the best players are using all those digits, but the energy from just a couple fingers and a thumb are amazing to see.
