Emily Remler plays Moanin' on a Public Access TV channel in Kansas City in 1989 with Kelly Roberti on bass and Brad Edwards on drums. Visit www.allthingsem... for more info on Emily and her music and teachings.
Also check out one of Emily's most inspired live performances of Moanin' recorded in Kansas City but at a different venue, The Fitzpatrick - audio here about half way down the page: www.allthingsem...

I was driving down the road yesterday (9-17-2020) with SiriusXM tuned into Real Jazz and this swinging guitar music came on and I couldn't identify the player. Afterward, the announcer said it was Emily Remler. What?! 😯 I'd never heard of a female jazz guitarist. I made a mental note and made sure to look her up and listen to what is available on yt. I am blown away by her playing and even though my dad taught me to appreciate jazz at a young age I'm surprised I had never heard of her. I wish there was more. Sad how it ended.

I've been watching a few videos of Emily here on yt. On my Android phone... couldn't be bugged to crank on my PC so late. Even on the small screen, I'm just so enamored not only by her technical facility on guitar, but by how she expressed it all. She moved along to the music... the way it all channeled through her. I can see why some people found her to be quite beautiful and sensual. I can barely imagine where Em would be today if she had conquered her inner demons...

Love this woman. Must have been fun to play with her, Kelly.......I love her lesson video on swing and bebop...love that guitar.....She seems very down to earth and straight up...I like her vision on how to feel the rhythm first.....Hate she's gone...Oh, well, we all gotta go sometime.....some too early....

I actually feel angry at her, for screwing up, O-D'ing and dying. I wanted to hear so much more from her. No one has made this tune swing this way.
