Thank you, Alain. I learned alot. I could never reach my full arm out to the front like you do whilte painting. I hope that's just for teaching. I'm off to buy some denatured alcohol! Much appreciated and thanks.

do you put the complements of what you are going to use in pastel for the underpainting or do you put the same colors? It throws me off because I am not used to it..ty

I'm drooling over that palette. I like a red that is earthy for underpainting. Burnt Siena is my go-to. Ever been to Siena? that is the color of the earth there. It is striking.

If you use first aid alcohol, can you dilute the alcohol with water or does one have to keep it pure?

Hi Alan, I had a quick question. What type of pencil did you use for sketching in the composition before you started the underpainting? Was it a standard lead pencil?

He uses vine charcoal, you can see it on his KZbin channel.

Venomous. The snake was venomous, not poisonous. (If you bite it and you die, it was poisonous; if it bites you and you die, it was venomous 😂) So cool, I've never thought of using watercolours underneath pastels. I have used coloured pencils over the top of both alcohol markers and watercolours but never thought to try pastels - I will have to give it a go!
