Sadly nowadays that works for some "actors". The Rock, Jason Statham... They always do the same shit, it's not even funny nowadays. They don't act. They perform representing a persona that has pretty much swallowed them.

That is such humble words. And yet he is most known for playing two very prominently arrogant antagonists. Saromaun and Count Dooku.

Always LOVED this man and miss him dearly. He is 💯correct most actors today are lazy they want to be rich and famous period. They don’t care about the craft or have passion for it as it clearly shows in their work. Sad.

This advice can be applied for any type of job we're in. Don't let money and fame govern your life!

That's because many actors and actresses these days have no understanding of what hard work is Sir Christopher, not like legends like you sir. You are missed sir!

Didn't he always play the same character?

See that is why I never pursued a career or even considered being an actor or writer because well it's like a comedian really too, sure ya are famous, got the money rolling in and all and can survive...so long as the crowd is laughing..once they stop laughing for ya and being entertained by ya then that can spell doom for the career. Much like farming it's an unstable job to go into with no real guarantee of success or payoff.

Lot of actors today and in past several past years could do with learning from this and heeding Sir Christopher's wise advice.

I am now 75: when I was 23, Christopher was in my office in Regent Street with words of profundity and wisdom. I laughed inside at some of the things he said. From a young and inspired fool, time has proven him right and I thank a kind and gentle-man for fueling my development over all the passing years since. "GEM"

I love the part where a guy said he’ll never get to marry his daughter unless he got the kings blessing, so then he got the kings blessing.

I guess what matters most is that you enjoy what you doing, with or without fame or riches. In the end quality and quantity are two different things. Of course, I'm an author and yeah, if my books are read and appreciated it will really feel good. But I guess I am a better writer than marketer, but I guess, I must just focus on my work itself and enjoy doing it. I'm quite often worried. Should I eventually reach the point that a book of mine really goes viral with translations in more than 40 languages, I know it will give me a lot of pressure. "Fame isn't everything, is it, mr. Potter?" to quote Snape. And in a lot of jobs I wonder why people do it. Only to get the money they need to live? When it comes to politics I wonder what politicians want... the best for their country, or just to have a glorious career that historians will enjoy to study for millennia to come? Personally I like people with a kind of mission, who really want to show creativity. Who enjoy the work they do. The best quality quite often comes from these kinds of people.

If you pay attention to his hands and how his fingers are bent, it suggests he had pretty severe arthritis at this point in his life. So he conducted this whole interview in likely quite a lot of pain, yet he remained on point and articulate.

And you see what he’s talking about ALL the time. Young actor stars in three or four blockbusters. Goes from The Big Thing to The Best Actor of their Generation. And then the flop. Or two. Or just a dry spell. The smart ones go back to indie films or theater, and you see them do the “learning of the craft” that Christopher is talking about. And hopefully they revitalize their career
