Depends on a lot of factors. It took me about 6 months, but I only have time on nights and weekends. Someone focused on the project could probably do it in a couple of weeks at the fastest. Just a guess. Thanks for watching! :)

May I ask how did you overcome the issue when you had to attach the pillar joint to the soundboard? Is there's something I missed in the video? Love the harps design btw great job!
@rosascreativeworks5403
@rosascreativeworks5403 Ай бұрын
For me, I wasn't certain what to do at that point you mention. So for my sound board, it does not touch the pillar and is only connected at the bottom, sides & top of the sound box. The spine the strings attach to, forks at the bottom and goes around the pillar. I do not know if that's a great idea or not, but it worked for me. I'll post a photo of this to my community tab so you can see.

What are the materials and the hardware you used? What was the expected cost of fhis...?
@rosascreativeworks5403

Links for the hardware are listed in the description. The rest is hickory wood. I don't really know the cost, since some of the materials I already had to hand.

@rosascreativeworks5403
@rosascreativeworks5403 4 ай бұрын
Sorry, I don't have .pdf plans. Mainly because this was as much of an experiment as an actual design. I hope to build another version perhaps starting this winter and make it a little larger. The string spacing was too tight for my fingers - though I do have fairly large hands. So hopefully my next experiment will be better suited for folks to try. :) Thanks for watching & commenting.

You did such an amazing job! I’m looking into building my own lever harp and I’m wondering how much it would cost for all the materials? And how long it took you to create this? Thank you so much! I’m so inspired.

Well, it has been a few years now. I think I spent close to a $1000+ on the materials, and it took me about 2 years from start to finish. The harp is based on plans from Robinson Harp Shop. Of course I was only working on it in my spare time. :) Best of luck with your project.

Have you tried heating the metal up to melt the bristles together at the base?
@rosascreativeworks5403
@rosascreativeworks5403 Жыл бұрын
No, but that's interesting. Might have to try it. I've seen others who use pliers to pinch the metal to better hold the bristles. But I haven't seen anyone heat it yet. Unfortunately at the moment I cannot try it as I'm not allowed open flame in the apartment. Thanks for the thought though!
@RockSleeper
@RockSleeper Жыл бұрын
@@rosascreativeworks5403 i was thinking maybe a heat gut or heating a pair of pliers with a heat gun then krimping. Maybe holding the brush at the krip with a pair of pliers and aiming the open end of the brush at the heat gun tip, while angling the brush end out of the heat, so the heat only goes up the handle.
@rosascreativeworks5403
@rosascreativeworks5403 Жыл бұрын
@@RockSleeper not sure if that would be hot enough or not. Alas, I found out the hard way that a heat gun will also set off the fire alarms in the apartment, so I cannot use one of those either. LOL. But maybe when I finally find a house and have a workshop again, I can give it a try.
@RockSleeper
@RockSleeper Жыл бұрын
