Speed is almost always a function of length. I had a 19 foot Wenonah and it would smoke my much sleeker Bell Northstar, despite being way wider. Those are very nice and it's hard to break an Old Town plastic boat.

Great video!! I’m also stuck between this bag and the Crossroads 27. Would you recommend as an all around bag? Not all my travels/adventures end up with water but the water proofing is a definite plus in my book. I look at it as is better to have the xtra features even if not always used under such conditions rather than need the xtra features and not have them. Just wanted your opinion please. Thank you

I love this ice hut, but it literally rains inside along all the seams if it is raining or if using heat when it snows. Cabela’s told me it’s not designed for precipitation of any kind…in Canada?
@HuyFishinАй бұрын
@@JoannaKurtz-s7k yes. Precipitation and water drops tend to form at the roof. But this will happen with other brands as well. I haven’t fished in the rain enough to experience water through the seems unfortunately.

You may have your fish identification confused. A yellow eye has a yellow eye and red on its back, orange to yellow on the sides, and black on the fin tips

BY FAR the worst part about the Scotty "483 gear-head" track adapter is the fact that the cheap, flimsy, flexible clips on the sides of the mount that are supposed to "lock" your gear into place become bowed outwards after only a few months of use (maybe this is more of a problem in warmer climates, where the plastic gets heated and becomes permanently looser than their 'out of the box' form). The result is that your rods (or worse, electronics if using the mount for that) will easily pop up and out of the mount with minimal effort after a while. If you have electronic mounted to your rails using this mount and you capsize - or just bump your rod holder or fish-finder the wrong way - you'll watch your depth finder/battery-box/sonar go swim with the fishes -- possibly along with any rod you had mounted using the gear-head track mount. DO NOT buy the Scotty "gear-head" track adapter !!! As mentioned, YakAttack and others have much better mounts (with *actual* functioning safety locking) for similar costs. **If anyone that owns a Scotty 483 gear mount adapter that doesn't believe me, pull straight up on your rod holder after using it for a few months, and you'll see what I mean. It no longer "locks" you gear into place. This problem has happened on every one I've bought (now three of these.). I've switched to YakAttack "Omega" rod holders that have a sturdy locking/unlock tab that you have to manually press to remove your attached gear.

Rental boats from Pedder are a great deal. Its close to good fishing OR close to whales passing by in the right season. A little tip for trolling - if you are going to only run 1 rod then run it on the port side (opposite to the side you steer). That way you can sit, drive and look back across to the rigger when solo.

Great video, I'm a little late to the party here, but I learned this lesson early on. The gearhead track adapters are very useful for many items, but you are correct, rod holders only on the right side (if you are trolling). Scotty does have a product that I use for trolling musky that is rail mounted and does not have the gearhead issue. The 343 Locking Gunnel Mount. You could try that, I love mine, I have one on either side for trolling for musky or striper. Has not failed me yet. Great vid btw, very informative and has likely helped many an angler! Keep up the good work.
