Sucks. One of the places I could get to on the weekend is gone. Still will go for the movies and Barnes and noble. It was a chance to go and buy things in person(remember that) and not have to wait for them to be delivered, lost in shipping or be at home to avoid the horrid porch pirates. Maybe one day it will come back to life. Remember what’s is old is new again… ex: turntables, records and Atari. One can only hope.
@RetroDayOfficialСағат бұрын
That's cool you would still go there on the weekends. True about shopping in person. Yeah at least AMC Theater, Boscovs and Barnes & Noble will remain which is something. That would be nice if it did!

Several years ago I ate at Friendlys in that mall and you could feel the mall was toast, it was right before the Covid nonsense. Then the next time I was there 6 months later, half the stores were gone. Food court had a Wendy’s for years which was always packed. The newsstand was to the left. Cafe Riviera was a terrific spot. Models sporting goods was near the movie theatre

Cool you got to eat at Friendly's right before that but I hear you on the writing on the wall. Good call on Models I forgot about it and used to go there!

A brief history lesson for those that are interested regarding the dioramas at the old Strawbridge & Clothier store: Originally, seven dioramas were commissioned by Strawbridge & Clothier for its Neshaminy Mall location decades ago, created by Tommy Rowland Inc. These dioramas, known as the “Wall of Freedom,” depicted key moments in American history: the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Washington crossing the Delaware River, the hiding of the Liberty Bell in Allentown, William Penn signing a treaty with the Shackamaxon, the Battle of Germantown, Ben Franklin securing French support for the American Revolution, and Gen. Washington with his troops. When first installed nearly 60 years ago, each diorama featured animatronics and sound. Pressing a button would bring a scene to life. However, after Strawbridge's closed and Macy's took over, the display fell into disrepair, suffering water damage and the deterioration of some papier-mâché figures. In early 2021, under the leadership of the mayor and Sally Sondesky from the township historical society, four dioramas, including the "Signing of the Declaration of Independence," were removed from the mall for preservation. Three dioramas, however, remain in the mall with their fate unknown. I hope they are saved as well before the mall is demolished.

Where the Barnes & Nobles is, you are right about the pet store and it being an entrance to the mall and there was a bank in the entrance/exit hall. When I was little, my mother cleaned the bank in the evenings. I would go with her and run around either in the bank or mall while she worked. Always made it into the pet shop.

We Just switched from Dish to Xfinity now that we have in our rural neighborhood. What I missed most on the Dish remote, was to fast forward or Hopper feature thru the commercials. I understand the fast forward on this Xfinity remote but cannot find where it will fast forward exactly through the commercials to the next segment of the program. Thanks in advance for your help!!! Your voice reminds me of the David Chase documentary "Wise Guys" of the making of the Sopranos
@RetroDayOfficial5 күн бұрын
Hi cool you switched to Xfinity. The fast forward through Commercials is an automatic feature. You push fast forward button and it'll automatically go through the Commercials to start of show break. But this doesn't work on every show only if you see a blue (or red) line that shows breaks for Commercials. Lol cool my voice does thanks!

I don’t like the new system nearly as much as I thought I would. The biggest advantage is DVR. The biggest disadvantage is changing channels. I tried to get to manually change a channel by typing the number. No idea how to get to the channel without using the channel button to go through all of the channels until I get to the one I want. Any tips? The old system was easy to use. I would type in the channel number and it would go straight there. With the new system you are showing I have no idea how the number buttons work to get to a channel. The complexity has gotten to the point that you need a training session on how to change channels. Help!
@RetroDayOfficial17 күн бұрын
Sorry you're having so many problems with the new system although I do find it the best system (and better than Verizon) and remote to date. You probably just need more time to get used to it. You can still push numbers and then enter button to go to any channel although I hold in voice button and call in channels it's easier. You can also push guide and go up pages at a time. Lastly, you'll want to make a favorites list and then you'll have all your favorite channels right there!
