I guess the question is Boss-Up or TJ Twinzer?
@BoardshopUK
@BoardshopUK Күн бұрын
I guess the question is how do you want the board to ride ? Both of course are performance based, but the Boss-UP is just a scaled up proportionate S-Boss. This board is all about top to bottom surfing and being able to perform radical maneuverers on a mid. we like to call it the shortboarders midlength. The TJ Twinzer has many similar characteristics but is slightly more relaxed and I guess you could say playful in its approach to each wave. We'd even go further and say that the TJ T is more versatile and 'user-friendly' for a wider range of surfers and waves.

No, the question is love machine FM or TJ Twin ? 😅
@BoardshopUK
@BoardshopUK Күн бұрын
Now we're talking ... in this funky mid-length what do you want from it ? is it glide , paddle power and the ability to cruise around and draw nice lines knowing you can still rip and put it through its paces - if so that's the FM all over . Or do you want something a bit livelier from the get-go , with instant release and pop which will almost mimic some shorter board maneuverers but on a scaled up board with the flair of the twinzer? This would be the TJ. Now both boards are great in their own right, and will have many cross overs but the question is, How do you want it to ride ?

The third back central fin on a thruster is the accelerator pedal. Sadly twin fins though very manouverable lack this added drive.

Some thoughts from an intermediate surfer who to anyone considering the board: I swapped out my 6'8 seaside and beyond for the M23 in x-lite as a 6'8, primarily because I wanted something make surfing rail to rail/transitioning, doing cutbacks etc as easy as possible - a lot of people told me the Seaside and Beyonds wide tail might hold me back and promote flatter surfing. I love how the tail feels on the M23, the board feels secure on big steep waves with the AM2 fins in, with enough nose rocker for me on steeper take offs. I've thrown in a set of pivots on a really small point break which made it loose and fun, you can throw it around a little. On really small waves the size of the board makes pumping and turning tricky but it is a mid length. The board doesn't have as much glide as other mid lengths I've ridden and you have to compress and extend more, but it is marketed as a performance mid so to be expected and I want to improve my ability to self generate speed. It doesn't feel like I get as much squirt out of a bottom turn compared to the Seaside and Beyond, but it is still very easy to catch waves. I've heard people don't like the x-lite construction as it lacks flex and thus projection. As I have limited experience/skill level it is difficult for me to comment on that but I can't help wondering if PU would have been better - but again I might not be skilled enough for this to be a huge issue. Be interesting to what Boardshop think about PU vs X-lite on this board. Overall would recommend if you want to have a mid length that is less cruisy, more shortboard orientated, and definitely versatile.

How does this compare to the MC Red Dingo?
@BoardshopUK
@BoardshopUK 2 күн бұрын
Dingo will be more responsive and performance based due to the RV and the hard edges , the Flowstik will be a bit more soft and relaxed in comparison. Both great boards and both will catch heaps of waves , depends if you want a more performance based board or cruisy

Thinking about this instead of getting a Firewire Seaside for small wave fun as my CI M23 in x-lite goes so well in bigger stuff. Reckon the pod mod is comparable to the seaside? Outline looks pretty similar!
@BoardshopUK
@BoardshopUK 4 күн бұрын
They are comparable, personally we feel the Pod Mod has a more refined shape in comparison - a little more pulled in on the nose and tail, whereas the Seaside has plenty of width throughout. in terms of wave range , again similar but the Pod Mod would be better off or more reliable when the waves have more shape due to the tail shape being more pulled in. Beauty of the Pod Mod is that you're spoilt for choice with the fins , dial it into how you like to surf and the waves you typcally go in!

I have been riding the Vader for years. It is an amazing board, especially for weaker waves but it goes just fine in good waves too. It is the fastest board I have ever owned. It looks like this new one is the same Vader with a Center keel. It could make it go rail to rail easier I’m guessing.

It certainly does , the Mod Pro sits in the 'mini mid length' category , all the benefits what you'd expect from a larger board but does genuinely ride like shorter model. Its been massively popular and people cant get enough of them, just didn't quite make the vid!

Even took it to the wave for a feel in the pool and it was perfect, highly recommend this board . I tried the 6’6 TST

How would you compare it to the Too Fish?
@BoardshopUK
@BoardshopUK 12 күн бұрын
Good question , both are wicked and soo fun to surf! the Too Fish is Cruisy and fun in small and weak waves. Recommended in 1-5' surf, skewing towards poor/flat to average conditions. The Febs Fish can handle a wide range of wave types: from solid barrels in Mexico, punchy beach breaks and big powerful point breaks such as Jeffrey's Bay and Morocco. we'd say 1 - 6/7 (depending where you surf). The Too Fish has a single concave running from the swallow tail through the chest, with the wide point just above center. The shape is floaty in the chest but thinned out aggressively in the tail to enable hold in more powerful waves whereas the Febs Fish has a more contemporary design (modern bottom contours, rocker, etc.) and finely foiled rails so it could be ridden at the highest performance levels possible.

Do these work well in smaller mushy waves? I ask because it looks like it has a ton of rocker
@BoardshopUK
@BoardshopUK 19 күн бұрын
It will work in the average smaller and mushy surf, whilst it has a medium entry rocker to allow the board to be surfed in the better waves it is still relatively flat so paddling and wave catching is still easy.
