People always quote the degenerate players abusing this card. that's not a reason to ban the card, JUST DON'T PLAY WITH THEM! Its a ridiculous argument because that same player probably runs every other legal broken combo that magic has. Banning cards doesn't do anything except removing options for ways to play the game and eliminating variety, because all most players do if find the top 20 commanders, look up the list on EDHREC, add to cart and play. There are some cards that should have never been printed on the ban list for sure, but honestly every time i read the reasons, they are subjective and i can make the same argument for all other busted legal cards.

Ancient Bronze goes pretty damn hard in an Ur Dragon deck. Any role higher than an 11 and Ur Dragon is swinging for lethal. Ancient Brass is underrated here, especially in my Korvold deck (yes, I am the Korvold player). I don’t have a lot of recursion, and Ancient Brass is some good piece of mind for when I’m forced to sacrifice creatures I don’t want to or am faced against mill strategies

What are you doing with this deck? You can’t play it in a casual pod, right? And if you take it to a cedh game it’s gonnna be a 3 player game (the other 3 players). You’ll be deciding who wins the game but it won’t be you. High power pod? I guess. But w you playing massively expensive cards, stax, free spells, a cedh quality commander, you run “combos”, I don’t think most high power players want to play against you. I think you should power it up and try your hand at cedh. You’ll have to change your game plan because your game plan isn’t strong enough. If you stax the game out in a cedh pod while playing K’rrk you’ll basically be king making. Someone w a grindy midrange deck will run away with it. TnK or TnT or you’ll find a player who doesn’t care about your stax that just goes off underneath it. It’s just gonna mess up the game w/out ever really “being in the game” Here’s my personal list. It’s not trying to go as fast as possible but mainly win on turn 3 or 4 but w more resilience and harder to interact w combos that will keep coming at you and threatening win after win if the turn 3 gets stopped, for instance. Today I was playing MTGO, I had Devilish in play along with Faldorn (creates tokens when a spell is cast from exile), Primeval Bounty (creates a token when casting a creature spell and gives 3 +1/+1 counters when casting a non creature spell). I then played Hit the Motherlode (Discover 10) which I had tutored for Apex Devastator (cuadruple cascade, which casts from exile). I don't remember exactly in which order it triggered but it got 9 +1/+1 counters along with 7 instances of doubling because one of the cascading cards was Bloodbaird Elf which also has cascade. The point is it ended up being like 400 power, it was awesome.

Commander should be a game mode that follows the 60 card formats. Standard card pool commander, pioneer card pool commander, modern….etc

I do not have any hate towards any card, but I really dislike fighting against emerikul in commander. Anyone who says it should not be banned has never had their monarch board neutered by annihilator 6. I’m all for the under dog, but do more than slap an emrikul down and attack.

Emrakul is just not a problem at all. Its a win condition. The fear surrounding her is just absurd against the flood of 2 card combos which immediately kill a player or win the game outright. Emerakul is only useable in an extreme ramp or combo with a cheat out creature scenario. Which as I already said, could have been an instant win combo instead of just a big bungus like Emrakul.

Ancient Gold Dragon is great with Dragon Tempest and/or Scourge of Valkhas. Ancient Copper Dragon is great with Hellkite Charger or Aggravated Assault. Those are deffinitively game-ending combos. I run all the Elder Dragons in my Ur Dragon deck. All of them are great with Atarka, World Render for Double Strike.

There are plenty of ways to handle Emrakul. Discontinuity ends their extrs turn, you can oblivion ring and pacify it as the card is a permanent targeting it out. Me and my group dont really follow ban list we still rather banned as commander but not in the 99.

edh is healthier without a banlist and instead has a points list

There's also Geode Golem and with Ancient Tomb, Sol Ring, Mana Crypt and that, it's a turn 2 *cast* of Emrakul, if Geode sticks, so you get the extra turn, or with those cards Lightning Greaves and Mana Vault it's a turn 1 cast of Emrakul.

I still think that Planeswalkers were a bad idea. Battles are just straight up trash. They help make what is often a complex and long game even longer and more complicated... with no corresponding increase in gameplay or enjoyment. At this point WOTC must be out of ideas... perhaps they should reintroduce Banding...

Honestly I'd love to see a trial of banned in 99 for her, like commander only. Colorless restriction isn't the worst anymore but is none the less a fairly heavy restriction. And without the cheaper costs nor hand refilling of kozileks second coming, you are assuring everyone else is just gonna pummel you before she ever touches the ground and they will likely kill your rocks on site if they have the removal.

In Vintage it's possible to get her out by turn 1 with Black Lotus and Channel. It's also possible to block her with an Ornithopter.

Hot Take: Emrakul AT should be unbanned and have her Extra Turn effect errataed to be 'When cast from your hand'. I can already imagine cEDH Emrakul AT potentially poking the meta around. Clarification Edit: With the current ramp in just Colorless, I'm pretty sure she could be turbo'd out turn 1-2 if you had literally perfect draws [Imagine using LED for a non-combo lmao] or turn 3-4 with more sensible draws.

I actually talked to a judge and the only reason emrakul is banned because of its take an extra turn ability on the cast because people were casting her then putting her back into hand to cast again for infinite turns and it was laughably easy to do

Well she can be hit by target removal just need to use the colorless one Scour from existence for example but yeah otherwise hard to deal with
