This version of Nine Times Blue is perhaps my favourite Monkees song. I wish they did a version like this for one of their studio albums.

It's just gorgeous. These guys were capable of so much more than the show brought out.

mike fancied himself a singer songwriter. the monkeys were a hollywood tv band, the songs written for them were great. he wrote 2 songs. he was 3rd in vocally. mickey, davey had better voices, they sang the hits, not written by mike.

Sad when you realise that any man blessed with just 10% of what Elvis Aaron Presley had would have 'Died under a mountain of pussy' written on his gravestone.

Elvis was and is number one in everything…his music is unparalleled… his charisma has been imitated and never duplicated. His charm and kindness in his heart are what makes us all love him. Only jealous people say anything bad! He never said anything bad about anyone!

So interesting how they had to go down the street to the local Bobs Big Boy restaurant to rustle up audience members. Boy did they ever get a treat, a world class come back from the King himself!

This is my favorite song of his, and I absolutely love this version. Unlike his recorded version, where he over, emphasizes the rhyming words, this one has a more personal feeling. Absolutely terrific. Thanks for sharing.

Lmao typical of Small artists like him always trying to get attention by dissing the great artists like Elvis much greater than Henry Rollins thus they get a moment of fame😂😂😂😂 Not even in his lifetime could Henry Rollins reach even half of Elvis's phenomenal impact on culture around the world.

He really loved that Guild 12 string didn’t he ( he even gives it a hug at he end 🤣) he recorded a lot with it and was still playing it right up to his last concerts, yes of course he had other guitars he played , but he seemed to have a constant attachment to this one and it appears he always kept it at his side. Incidentally, I learned to play this song just by watching this video, its a great song and its not too tricky to play, in fact, quite a lot of Nes’s songs are very playable, I often see other guitarists on youtube who try to over complicate them for some reason when they don’t actually need too, I saw Michael live when he came over to England (2012 I think) and I noticed how uncomplicated he kept his chord progressions and they flowed effortlessly, I learned to play quite a few just by watching him, Nes always kept it as simple as possible but made it sound just great, he was a very underrated guitarist in my opinion.
