Hi, I have a round plate that is bended. No flat face or straight line to select for Fold. What then?
@SolidWize
@SolidWize 9 күн бұрын
I was able to unfold by creating a cut at the edge of the geometry, but it entirely messes up the bend, so you'd likely just need to make your modifications without unfolding the part.

This is FANTASTIC! Just what I've been looking for. Must I manually add the DESCRIPTION LENGTH details into the properties for it to show in my cutlist?

This sucks if you want to change the size of the ball, and then you have to adjust the offset surface again as well. Wish it was easier to slide something along a surface

This is a great video: a.) use [surface fill] but a few things before that: b.) Add surfaces to edges that border the geometry. Crating a normal to surface capability. c.) Click off "optimize" because optimize=boundary surface setting(internal calc method imbedded in the option)
@mjgerth
@mjgerth 9 ай бұрын
If you click a face and right click you can save DXFs normal to the face you selected. Few less clicks than the save as method but still immediately opens the "save as" dialog box, so the rest of the steps are the same.

Is there any way to scale in only one direction?
@SolidWize
@SolidWize Жыл бұрын
Not specifically. Hack would be to extrude your sketch, use the scale feature tool to scale in one direction, and then convert the edges from your extrusion back over to a sketch.

how do this in assemblies?
@SolidWize
@SolidWize Жыл бұрын
Under the linear component pattern pull down is a mirror component option. Although the results will be a bit different.
@wyindepi8870
@wyindepi8870 Жыл бұрын
@@SolidWize yeap, it there. but in this way mirrored copies is not sheet metal parts, they are solid bodies. i can't make a unwraps by 'Nesting Works' from assembly with this approach. if you have ideas and thoughts on how to optimize this process, I will be very grateful to you)
@SolidWize
@SolidWize Жыл бұрын
@@wyindepi8870 I'd recommend not bothering with trying to do much modeling in assemblies. Learn how to use master models in solidworks and do the vast majority of your design work in multi-body part files. The solidworks assembly environment is incredibly restrictive when trying to create anything complex.

hi, Is there a way to fix the surface mesh like in Zbrush that you can retopologize the geometry to make it smoother? thank you
@antonioesposito8071
@antonioesposito8071 Жыл бұрын
no and yes and then no those are not polygons like in zbrush (or Maya, Blender, C4D, 3dsmax, etc) but a much more complicated mathematical model called NURBS, so the question really does not stand up. There is however a somehow analog function called "rebuild surface", but this function is not present in SW

Saving Dxf's for laser cutting with kerf compensation. My current workflow is: *Make new sketch on part's face. *Convert entities (all edges u need out and inward) *Offset entities with your kerf value (make construction base geometry) *Select construction geometry and delete. *Hide main Boss Extrude (so it does not show on dxf file as additional edges) *Save as dxf. *Show main Boss Extrude *Hide sketch with offset edges so it does not show on your assemblies. Cypcut is great for nesting btw, just open new file, go nesting and "add parts"(use your dxf;s) make the nesting as required and copy the results to Primary Doc and save as dxf. Cypcut can coedge your parts if needed to minimize laser time. Cypcut does compensations pretty well by itself but only in lxds format, compensations wont save as dxf files. I wonder if there is a better way.
@mjgerth
@mjgerth 9 ай бұрын
One note is that you can actually offset entities without first converting. This eliminates the need for construction geometry but still lets you keep the offset dimension in there in case you needed to change the value. Like if you went thicker or thinner on the material and needed a different comp. We have a laser that runs cypcut and have never had to save DXFs with the comp. Have always just done it at the machine. Cypnest does it as well and so do our other nesting packages.

So, can this be used in a pattern? i wanted to try and make a cool spout for a sink, say 6 of these all twisting together but not connecting except for the base and the actual spout. Seems if you try this with different two plus arcs the points where they connect seem to mess things up a bit. Great video though this helped a bunch!

The revolve from the thread ends is how you want to do it. However in solidworks the end faces are not normal to the trajectory. They are normal to your standard planes. This causes the rotated thread end to not follow the thread. Pro-e has a button you can click to make the faces normal to your helix angle trajectory. I’ve not yet found how to do that in SWorks.

Hi. Good video. Apparently circular sweep gives a different result for the spring body mass and the circle sketch also gives a different result, same material and same diameter applied. These two methods don't yield the same result. What is your suggestion for the CSWE, as there won't be any multiple choice
@SolidWize
@SolidWize 3 жыл бұрын
It should be accounted for in their range of values for the answer, but the intended method, I believe, is the surfacing method. (surface sweep, then solid sweep)
@dionismarku8272
@dionismarku8272 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, that is very clear. I was referring to the final sweep, the one to give the final answer to the question. So you mean, circular sweep, not create a sketch and draw a circle, then do the sweep with sketch and path.
@SolidWize
@SolidWize 3 жыл бұрын
 @Dionis Marku The way the problem is shown on the actual CSWE, it is probably better to simply create a sketch circle.

Nicely done. If you wanted to depict a sphere a toroid (steel ball and o-ring seal) in contact with each other using a mate in SWX 2020, shouldn't it be as simple as choosing surface of each and assigning a tangent relationship? There've been some usage features added since the version you are using. But, try as I may, I'm unable to make that happen. I have their axes aligned coincidently. I was really hoping for a homerun. Didn't happen. Advice?
