@@andrewczski1969 Well, the video could be more polished and more concise, but thank you nonetheless. I haven't found a more easy-peasey solution, but the nuclear solution when all else fails would be to just replace the entire headlight units, but I reserve that solution for when the headlight lenses are too badly damaged by UV, cracks, etc. It's a little more time consuming and pricey, but not TOO expensive, depending on the make and model. I've done it for a couple different vehicles, and the pair can often be purchased for under $100, seldom more than $200, and it can really make an older vehicle look like new. Definitely improves the functionality of the lights. Just search Amazon for your the year, make, and model, of your vehicle, along with keywords "headlights." Search results might include bulbs, too, and you can just ignore those and look for the entire headlight units. Then perform the same search on KZbin and you will find how-to videos that show you how to replace them. It's usually just a few bolts, although sometimes the front bumper cover and other trim must be removed.

Or or you could use that hair dryer to preheat the front, i promise it will not melt or deform the plastic. There is zero need for the hoover 😂😂😂
@Lookie-Lookie27 күн бұрын
Nice thought, but that would not work reliably. Heating the plastic warms the air inside and water droplets then TEMPORARILY evaporate into the air. However, if the air inside the headlight unit stays inside the headlight unity, the water will eventually condensate again. For most people who have this problem, the problem is caused by a lack of air flow, usually because the vents are clogged. By routing the hose into the headlight unit and sucking in air, you are forcing the circulation of air and clearing the clogged vent(s). Better yet, check the vents for obstructions and clear them manually, like mentioned in the video. Lots of folks have found this solution to be the ONLY remedy that worked for them. Give it a try.

I changed the lenses on my volvo xc60 (2012) and they were perfectly fine the 1st year and now going on the 2nd year, both headlights have absolutely *fogged up* and accumulated tons of droplets inside, i put new glue where the lens seals to the frame of the headlight but it didnt help at all. I dont know what the hell to do anymore as new bi-xenon headlights cost 600 euro each and lenses only 40 euro each but they are a PAIN to change and it probably wouldnt help to change them again anyway.
@Lookie-LookieАй бұрын
Did you try my technique? It's FREE and it works! Gluing headlights might actually make the problem WORSE because the problem is caused in the first place when water condenses but is not able to evaporate. The more you seal your headlight units, the more water gets trapped. The units are not designed to be SEALED. They are designed to keep water out. That is different than an airtight seal. Plastic channels water away without sealing. If you seal them, you're sealing in the air that is full of moisture. You want the headlights to breath. Think of the headlight like a soldier's tent. Soldier wants to stay dry. Tent is made out of canvas. So how does the soldier stay dry? With VENTILATION. Tent sheds water, so doesn't need to be waterproof. Vents keep the tent aired out. That's exactly what headlight units do. THEY ARE DESIGNED WITH HOLES IN THEM. They would not have the holes if they were supposed to be sealed airtight. So stop sealing the plastic. Also, check the vent holes in the back and make sure they are not clogged which would impede air flow and evaporation. Also make sure you are running regulation headlight bulbs. If you run different bulbs, they might run too cool for spec, and the lack of heat is keeping the moisture from evaporating. Most important, though, TRY MY TECHNIQUE. It works.

By the looks of those dripmarks on your hood, perhaps at some point in the cars prior life, it was in a front end collision, and the headlight sustained some hairline fractures in it’s clear case, probably along the seams somewhere…If thats the case there is no fix…relacement is necessary…
@Lookie-Lookie2 ай бұрын
No front end collisions. Only damage this vehicle has sustained has been a couple of door dings. There has never been a repair/paint that would cause "dripmarks." I think you may be referring to the bubbling in the paint. That is called "osmotic blistering" which can occur on an aluminum vehicle for a number of reasons. In this case, I think it's just poor engineering/manufacturing/quality control on the part of Dodge. These vehicles happen to have aluminum hoods, while the rest of the sheet metal is steel.

Are you driving through puddles a lot? You might have a cracked headlight assembly. Although my technique works great, sometimes I replace headlight assemblies, usually not because of moisture, but instead because of yellow and scratched plastic. Search Amazon.com for the year, make, model, of your vehicle, along with keywords, "headlight." In the search results, look for products that have good reviews, lots of reviews, etc. For my vehicle, I recently replaced both headlight units for under $100. Yeah, I had to take the front bumper cover off to get at all the bolts, but it was worth it. Of course this would also fix you moisture problem while making the front end of your vehicle look like new. If you go this route, you can find KZbin videos that show you how to replace headlight assemblies for your year, make, and model. Let me know how it goes.

It happens. Moisture reappeared in mine one time, too. Second time was a charm. It's been clear ever since. Inspect the headlight assembly and look for cracks that might be allowing moisture to enter. If you have a cracked headlight assembly, you can replace the entire part pretty cheaply, and there are how-to videos on KZbin for most makes/models/years. If you do that, I recommend replacing both sides. I'm replacing headlights on a vehicle in the near future, and all parts are $200. Not bad.

@@Lookie-Lookie seen a video a someone drilling a whole in bottom seemed easier the removal of the bulbs and attachments. Ur right tho 👍
@Lookie-Lookie7 ай бұрын
@@Barryupgraded I wouldn't drill holes in your headlight assembly. For one thing, water will be able to splash up into the unit and make things worse, unless you are very careful and thoughtful about where you place the hole. Also, it still won't stop moist air from entering. The problem in the first place is caused by moist air that condenses forming moisture droplets on the surface inside, and that can still happen if there is a hole drilled in the bottom. Remember, your headlight assembly already has holes (vents). Adding another hole will probably not help, especially if it is a tiny one. Best thing to do is make sure the existing vent holes are clear and then dry out the inside.

@Lookie-Lookie8 ай бұрын
If the problem is recurring, you might have a crack in your headlight unit, or an open seam, that is allowing water to enter too easily. When the problem recurs too frequently, replacing the headlight unit might be a better option. Cost can be surprisingly low, and installation can be surprisingly easy, but it depends on the year, make, and model, of your vehicle. Search KZbin for "replace headlight" and the year, make, and model, and you will get an idea for how easy it is. An Amazon search for "headlight" and the year, make, and model, will find aftermarket replacement options that can be as low as $50 or lower, but it depends. My solution shown in the video is for occassional issues and would not be convenient for constant recurring issues. If you can identify a crack or open seal, you also might try sealing with silicon, but personally I would rather replace the unit at that point.

Hey man thanks for the detailed objective review. I have been looking for the best deal and have landed on golden fox as a likely choice. Either the moctoe you have or the boondocker. have you looked at the SL Saint waterproof, or the kelodon and HISEA and SUREWAY. Some of these chinese brands are just random letters put together liek "smatch" or lasting pinnip, or aegiswarm. but i digress. I just can't see myself having to reply "rock Rooster" when asked about my footwear. Golden fox is definitely better in name even though before your vid I thought they were a chinese brand. So are you still satisfied with them at this point? Have you looked into the wolverine or Taft 365 M002? they look a lot like the redwings and they were $199 when I first came across them and today I found some for $79 . Tafts regular line (not the 365line ) have pretty solid great reviews , I'm not sure if the M002 was severely overpriced or if the $79 would be a steal. I don't think it has a GYW, but they look like they do , which was a good point you made that compamies will use a fake stitch. or welt. But i'm unfortunately unemployed right now so its even more imperative I get the best bang for my bucks.
@Lookie-Lookie8 ай бұрын
I can't recommend any of those other brands you mentioned. If you read the reviews, there are a lot of complaints about them coming apart, either the stitching or the soles. This is typical of companies who are trying to copycat the veterans but don't have the track record to know how to make a boot that last. Some of them, if you look closely in their product photos, you can see stitching that looks like soft white cotton thread. Whatever it is, it doesn't look durable. Here's my take… Either go with a "heritage" boot from an established brand with leather welt so you know you're getting a REAL boot, or go modern. And if you go modern, you can't beat Timberland Pro (amzn.to/4dmU1iB) or Keen (amzn.to/3y6LQXL). Both are great for comfort, durability, and style.

I recently changed my halogen headlight bulb to an LED bulb, and ever since, there has been condensation inside of the lens. Could water have seeped inside of it if I had not turned the bulb enough to seal it?
@Lookie-Lookie8 ай бұрын
One possibility is your new bulbs don't run as hot, and the heat of the previous bulbs helped clear the moisture. People see this issue sometimes when they switch to LED bulbs which run cooler (albeit usually brighter). You should still be fine. Just locate the vents on the back of the headlight units. There will be at least one, maybe multiple. Consult the service manual for your vehicle for clues. But you should be able to find them by visually inspecting the back of the headlight units. Make sure all vents are clear of debris. Having clear vents helps the air flow in and out of the headlight unit to clear condensation. And, of course, to help hurry the clearing of the condensation, watch this video for tips on how to use a vacuum and/or a hair dryer to speed up the clearing of the moisture.
