How is the cable for rear lift/ sleeve hitch mounted under the tractor?
@mnacman
@mnacman 3 күн бұрын
Good question. The cable for the tiller lift snakes through under the seat, right up against the hydro unit. I had problems with it messing with the hydro. Also, having a tiller on a hydro (I think) helped contribute to burning out the pulley clutch that drives it. My Simplicity dealer at the time told me it's better to have a tiller on a shuttle transmission. As I have other tiller options, I put the mower back on this one, and have been looking for a shuttle transmission tractor to put the tiller on.

I went custom cutting one summer from KS to N.D. We had 4 Gleaner G 20' diesel combines. One day we cut 500 acres with the 4 machines. Back then that was a great day. Tried to cut 400 acres @ day.

I would love to find a HM250 cultivator setup for my 1974 farmall. I use it now for plowing with a mckormick no. 8 16" double bottom plow and other light tasks. love to have a planter for it also.

I never did beans but just got an HM221 cultivator and hope to next year. I agree with you on speed, would do that in taller corn when I was young. Also cultivated with a Farmall C which was a pain as not enough power for speed in taller corn.

@@u.s.angler7494 the the original cultivators that I see for the h and m have a long lever switch to lift and drop manually. I own a cub, super a and a 140. I know for sure these models have a hydraulic switch to lift and drop. I did watch another video of a farmall a with that hydraulic conversion switch like your h. But it didn't use a cultivator hydraulic box like the super a. Was wonder if it's a conversation from the recent case ih tractors????

You need to open that thing up with beans this big. You need the wing tips set about 2" apart and run near wide open in 4th. Yes I have cultivated beans like that to kill over grown graas and weeds. Speed seems to help.

My friend's dad had that same disk a 200 diesel with duals and a pony drag they pulled behind it, worked 400 acres a year like that, my friend bought a 4020 and was going to use it to work his farm, dropped it down and the 4020 couldn't move it, unhooked the pony drag still couldn't pull it, flipped up the wings like yours is and then the 4020 could pull it

Ground is way too wet to plow
@heatmoon
@heatmoon 4 жыл бұрын
It might have to do with the soil, it's high clay, looks wet, but not. Regardless I feel for the cultivator driving over that stuff later. I hate moldboards. Discing or chisel plowing is much better at soil conservation and easier to cover large arees.

I was thinking about how much I love modern fwa tractors. We had a 180 and a 190 and they would have been stuck before the end of the day…. Awful times to try to push the ground. Now we would wait and no-till that small grain stubble. Brings back a fond memory of the first cabs with ac though.
