Fantastic singing, even if at times it sounded like we were about to veer into Lucia’s mad scene.

I'm not a fan of those emasculated voices we hear so often these days. It's refreshing to know that I'm not the only one enjoying full-bodied voices. This is how any singer should sound. Thanks for sharing.

Bonisolli was a very interesting artist. His joiux de vivere made people underestimate his brillance.

The more it goes on, the more I feel that all Baroque opera should still be sung like this. Like Oralia Dominguez in Monteverdi. I can't listen to the 'HPI' boring stuff anymore.
@chocolatesouljahАй бұрын
Thank you for this post. I learned a lot and the singing was stellar! Is that actually an image of the soloist, Mr. Bonisolli?
@toscadonnaАй бұрын
The only way that one should sing. The voce ingolata trend is killing opera and the voices who are doing it.

One can see why Maria Callas always put the utmost importance on clear attack and precise intonation - her teacher passed down to her this rule of Bel Canto so well! Why can't so many young singers be bothered with this nowadays and deliver all the notes? Singin just half of what is written means you're just too lazy to do your job well and you don't respect the work you are interpreting.

It is much more pleasing to the ear to hear a full and properly trained voice. Unfortunately this wonderful repertoire is often treated with superficiality and amateurism. Many baroque singers imitate Bartoli considering her an expert in the genre. However their lack of musical education and understanding of the functionality of the voice leads them to seek out terrible models.
@aminaroxana-cb6dzАй бұрын
I'm so glad someone finally said it. I've always considered Bartoli's technique ridiculous, and it seems like everyone today is trying so hard to imitate those chicken clucking sounds of hers. Are they all deaf?🙈🙈🙈

If you're up for a good laugh, check out Obraztsova's performance and then compare it to Remy Bres Feuillet's version. Remy sings with a weak, collapsed voice, yet some self-proclaimed experts consider him fantastic. Plus, he ends up the aria by whistling instead of singing it. Wtf?😂🤦🏼And if any die-hard fans of these phony singers want to argue with me, well I don’t give a damn about their opinions.🤡

There are these music illiterates who think this singing isn't right for Handel, but guess what? 😅They're the same ones who will waste all their money on inaudible, effeminate, weird, mosquito-like voices pretending to sing baroque. Seriously, sit down, because you clearly don't know much about music. Handel, like any other composer, should be sung with a full and potent voice. If you love mosquitoes, then go and listen to counter-tenors and leave us to listen to a great and properly developed voice.💪🏻
@BangkokVoiceCoachАй бұрын
Not Handel's most inspired aria but definitely the most sensational singing.
@toscadonnaАй бұрын
You know this is far more like how the composers wanted it than what we get today. 😢
@jannabadalianАй бұрын
Handel is my favorite composer for voice. He truly understood singers and voice - it's a shame he is performed by barely audible, whispering voices nowadays! His music deserves better. 👆👆👆

In recent years, "But Who May Abide" has been sung by mezzos, contraltos, countertenors and even sopranos, but they can never match the gravitas that basses and baritones bring to this aria, especially in the case of Jerry Hines.
