I recall seeing one of these startup and taxi while at an airshow in Frederick, MD back in the 1980s. What I noted was how damn loud the thing was at idle (not so loud on takeoff). Now I realize that the CF 700 is nothing more than the old GE CJ610 with a fan in the back.

nice shot. how did you get such good close up pics of the runway? I seen some A-10s parked there before but I can't find a way to shoot pics or videos over there without a fence in the way. and the roads along there are no parking. then you go to MCI and most the runways are off limits. and the roads that give you access on the west side are gated off. yet i watch videos in Europe and they allow plane spotters to park along the roads along the fences and even stand on ladders shooting over the fence. seems in the US or in the KC and KS area you can't plane spot very good as they don't give you a place to park and watch the runways up close. I tried to get pics of the blackhawk helicopters at the Emporia airport and the public road on the west side that gives you a view of the runway is now closed off and gated off sometime in the last few years so i missed my shot. I was trying to get into plane spotting but the frustrations have discouraged me. the same as when i tried to get into it in 2004. all the public roads close to the runways are closed off around Forbes field in Topeka and any nearby road has no place to pull off and looking at the map they're all closed off around the Salina airport. I'm tired of seeing all the cool stuff in Europe up close and i can't get anything good up close around here. and in wichita you can use the roads close to McConnell or the ICT airport but the traffic is unbearable and you still can't get a good view of the runways and the heat distortion makes the shots look bad when you zoom in.

God I miss watching 727s take off. In about 2005-2010 I frequently got done work at 11p and went to sit at the end of the runway at CYHM and watch one after another take off when Kelowna Flightcraft and Cargojet had a ton of them. I just played this video through speakers to reminisce lol. The bass of the engines used to magnify as they climbed out and it would rattle my car.

It's just so sad that these 727s have been reduced to a novelty or big event these days. When these were commonplace with most every major airline in the United States and almost Worldwide, no one ever gave them a second thought. Now we clamour for them if they make an appearance. The same goes for any DC9 or MD80 or 737-200.
@masonmccall659110 ай бұрын
I hate that so much too. As a younger aviation enthusiast and student pilot, I really wish I was born back when these classics were a common sight. I take any opportunity I can to see these beauties because soon they will be just history. I wish there was more appreciation for them!
@AccessAir10 ай бұрын
@masonmccall6591 Well, I for one, appreciate that you take the time to document these airplanes on video. I did grow up watching these airplanes and remember going to Chicago O'Hare Airport and every airline flew 727s: American, United, Continental, TWA, Eastern, Delta, Air Canada Mexicana, Pan Am, ATA, Branniff#2, Northwest Just to name a few.

With the recent Boeing 737 MAX plane mishaps, one with Alaska Airlines suffering uncontrolled decompression following its takeoff from Portland Int'l Airport about a month ago and the other one from 5 years ago when the Boeing 737 MAX 8 Ethiopian Airlines crashed 6 mins. after takeoff, I think it's time to bring the 727s out of retirement, at least temporarily.
