Obviously different throttle profiles, but off camera and data both prove the DC-9 is much louder then an MD-80 even with Stage III hush kits. JT8D-1 through -17 were derived and built off the J52 Turbojet that powers the A-4 Skyhawk, A-6 Intruder, and EA-6B Prowler. It has a bypass ratio (0.96 to 1) compared to the JT8D-209, -217, and -219 which have a bypass ratio (1.74 to 1). Adding a hush kit to the JT8D-1 through -17 to throw the bypass air directly into the core air stream does quiet down the crackle, but the -200s have just a much a higher volume of bypass air to cushion the core air stream and a more efficient mixing process, plus multiple other factors of the engine such as acoustic treatment, etc. 2 completely different engines.

That’s correct! It’s nice to see the old Delta maddogs be given a second life.

I'm a simple man, I see a USA Jet MD or a TSM DC or Maddog and I listen and click like. I literally believe a TSM MD just flew overhead as I was typing this. Turned the video off and heard a very similar sound outside lol.
