This is exactly why I will more than likely never buy another haas mill. We had to clean the haas machines out a few times per day due to chips building up. Put the same parts and program in the new dnm and it will run a whole week without needing cleaned out because the machine is designed so the chips get to the augers/conveyor using gravity.

The night guy I follow at my job just leaves messes like this for me. Since we only run two shifts in our shop I never see him. I have left notes asking for him to clean better. I have also alerted management and still every day the machine is a mess. What should I do?

@cncmachiningchannel6 ай бұрын
@@wendull811 That is unfortunate and I would expect management to create a policy that would help. One thing around our shop is we expect everyone to pitch in, especially in shared workspaces. At the end of the day everyone is responsible from the greenest inturn to the CEO, cleanliness and organization are part of the 5S strategy we implement and it helps us on a daily basis.
@wendull8116 ай бұрын
@cncmachiningchannel management also preachies 5s and daily cleaning. The problem is that we can't find anyone to hire to replace the lost workers we already have, let alone to lose more workers. So they just tell us what we want to hear. They think we are stupid, but we are a lot smarter than they think we are. I would leave, but I have dedicated the last 20 years of my life to this shop, and it is extremely hard to find a job that will offer 5 weeks paid vacation plus a week of sick time, and floating holidays. Which in all equals 6 weeks and 3 days off every year. I was just curious what every else would do.

Doesn't look like it's worth the upgrade for the extra augers and conveyor
@zyndapp8006 ай бұрын
Exactly! Someone paid 7-8k $ extra for these 4 additional augers, but it's completely pointless on Haas mills. Way covers have allmost no angle so they are pretty mutch horizontal. This means that huge piles of chips will stay there and you will damage the machine if you don't stop during the day and clean out
@cncmachiningchannel6 ай бұрын
There are better options out there for sure. We have a DVF that does a good job at chip evaluation.

The OD thread chatter on your parts would immediately disqualify your shop from any further business from my company! Your rollers have so much chatter that I would be ashamed to even admit my shop machined any parts.
@cncmachiningchannel8 ай бұрын
You’re 100% correct. The program is written with speeds/feeds for steel and the threads are spot on…..we used brass for demonstration and the ability to not use coolant for the video.

Did you indicate your drills in? I mean in an x and y? A lot of shops I’ve worked at don’t know to do this, they find x and call it X0 and that’s it. Only reason I ask is I noticed your set screws on top seem to be backed out to the same length. If you are unaware, this is a life saver for any job really that you have to hold tight tolerances on and sneaking up to your size especially with boring bars. If they are on center in both axis, you can take free pass after free pass. And a .0001 offset actually translates to .0001. Cool video!
