My dog was just diagnosed w diabetes. I was told by the vet that diet and exercise will not help like it does in humans. She HAS to go immediately in insulin, Rx food diet, Curve Program every 2 weeks , needles can only be from the vet office etc etc etc. I don't understand how if placing my dog on a diet and monitoring her diabetes for 4 to 6 weeks could be a bad thing... to ensure she doesn't start something as serious as insulin injections and actually not need it. Or it may not be that bad. Or just to atleast see if it helps her glucose levels. Does this sound reasonable?

The root cause of T2D is the FOOD. It's full of sugars, carbs, seed oils and processed junk. The root cause of T2D in dogs and cats is the FOOD. 100 years ago dogs and cats didn't get T2D. IT'S THE FOOD.

Great informative vid..didn't know about not shaking the vial of insulin. After a week of injections my 12 year old pup is back swimming barking and alive again. Will keep the treatments up and monitor her for her continued health.

My 13yr old male feline was diagnosed with diabetes 3 weeks ago. I have been doing extensive research ever since. This video has been a God-send for me. Not only do I better understand the disease (my intention for watching this video) I have a better understanding how the treatment may or may not be working and can help my Vet better understand what is going on at home. Excellent presentation. I had a fair layman knowledge of Cushing Syndrome before watching your video, so that probably helped me understand where my little boy is now, and how to help him. I did observe a change in his personality when trilostane was not administered for about a week. (The lapse occurred due to what I see as negligence on the part of the vendor and I am taking steps to never deal again with them again. I have transferred my dog's prescription to PetSmart pharmacy, which appears to be significantly more responsive, and recognizes the importance of prompt filling and delivery of medications.)

Trilostane is extremely toxic. I took my dog off of it, changed his diet, got his ALP down to normal levels and he had no symptoms besides excessive hunger. If it wasn't for my vet causing more problems to the point I had to put him down he'd probably still be here.

Is an echo required before giving medication? The vets office is telling us we may or may not need it after the x-ray and EKG. This is all getting very expensive unfortunately. I'm not totally understanding why we may or may not need the echo. He also has a tumor that may go down if he is neutered but we won't know if we will get the clearance for his heart for the surgery. He is 17 already and I guess I am struggling with calculating all of this.

They can’t tell what’s going on until they see the Echo test/xrays. Think about it they’re just going off your report of symptoms, etc. hoping for the best for your animal 💛

Thx for this. My Bby has this but is getting tested for treatment purposes. Bad part she needs to hv her eye removed ASAP so I’m freaked out. Started a GoFundMe to get surgery but not there yet and if that goes well then we can move forward treating Cushings. Many sleepless nights rite now, her and her daughter are my only family. Thx again, I learned what I didn’t understand from this. 🐾❤️🐾

My little Jacques also had an eye problem, which we have been treating with antibiotic and other prescribed drops. As I previously wrote, I had a problem with the vendor of trilostane. When he was receiving the proper dose twice daily, I saw significant improvement. He has not been receiving it of about a week now and I see abnormal effects. Hopefully, tomorrow I will start receiving the drug from a more reliable vendor and can pick up his treatments again. I hope your baby is doing well. According to what you wrote, it has been a year. Perhaps you can update us on how she is doing?

@@DokDream thanks but sadly she passed late November last year. Turned out her eye issue stemmed from diabetes that her vet failed to catch in enough time. So now her daughter is starting to have the same symptoms and she’s 14 months younger than mama was. I wish you all the best with your baby.
