I called the phone number on the form for Contra Costa County, and they confirmed the mailing address as 2530 Arnold Drive Suite 100, Martinez CA 94553. I assume for other countries, whatever address you see on the top of the form is the mailing address. Good luck!

You can go to the city or county website where your home is located to apply for the exemption.

Yes, you give senior citizens credit, which is good, but the next person that buys the house supposed to pay what that senior didn't pay as supplemental tax. Whoever buys from the senior that used the program must pay the difference between the current sale price to what that senior paid for annual tax. meaning State of California give credit to senior citizens out of out of other people's pocket. they should calculate the supplemental tax based on the last sales (whatever that senior paid) to current price not the last annual tax amount to current sales price.

I have a question regarding CA Prop 13. Let's say one purchase a $400,000 home. After 1st year, house value become $600,000. (basically 50% increase) So the 2nd year assessment value is $408,000 , but market value is $600,000. I get that. Now, my question is, after 2nd year, market value of a home remains same at $600,000 (0% increase). Will you assessment value be increased by 2% (about $416,000)? or will your assessment value remain the same ($408,000) because market value did not increase the 2nd year?

In theory it could be flat, but in reality property values in San Francisco City & County always go up. That was the case even during the recession. There was also a smaller increase in market value in the first year of the pandemic. My annual letter from Carmen Chu stayed consistent w/the usual higher assessment....She didn't mention that the City Assessor's office has a 5 year workflow to re-assess the value of a house when it has a new owner -- partly because of renovations, permits and potential added square footage most new owners undertake immediately. In the first 4 years, starting in 2012, I paid various small supplemental tax bills, then got a whopping catch-up bill for all 5 years in one go. They didn't even split it into November and April payments. Good thing I went in every year --in person--to get a ballpark estimate. If you miss 3 years (I think) of payments, I'm told the city sends a letter about selling your house in order to collect back taxes. Their 5 year assessment of course doesn't include late fees, but it's not a grace period either.

Move out ASP. California is milking you all and short changing you residents on services. In Michigan and other states the inflation rate multiplier is barely 1%. California is double that.enjoy paying all of your funny taxes everywhere you go in California especially state taxes

I was wondering that I have a house which was sold recently and it was under my daughter and my name , and we are planning to buy another one together. if we bought an another house, can we (I am 67 and my daughter is 36 ) use preposition 60 towards the house? Thanks.

Nicely explained! We are buying a new construction home that started construction from may 2021, our escrow close is Jan-March 2022. Should we pay property taxes for this home from may- jan also? And after escrow will we receive a supplemental bill ?

Hi Carmen, a question on Prop 19: How does the new proposition 19 works for the situation when the parents are buying the replacement property with the child? The child is currently living with them and his income will help with getting the mortgage for the bigger pricier house. Can the parents still keep the old tax, or at least some of the old property tax in the new house?! Thank you!

All CA government did is shitshow. It legalizes baby boomer takes advantage of young generations. My income tax is freaking 42% and I don't have enough money to buy freaking expensive house in bay area. Rent fee is freaking $3k, which is cheapest shit in this area. Why silicon valley is located in this shitty state?

How many times will reassessment happen? How about children from divorced parents? How are things still being added to Prop 19 and its taking effect in less than 2 weeks?
