First computer I ever used. I used to help my dad program the games in. 😂 Had no idea then, what computers would be capable of today!

Back in the day, I wrote my own line drawing routine in 6502 assembly. You passed it an x1,y1 and x2,y2 on call from BASIC, and it would plot a line. It was pretty much the same speed. Of all the Super Expander Carts, I would of taken the 24K version in a heartbeat, and bump the extra commands in the 3K. But when push came to shove, a 1541 was more important.

Print Shop really makes the process of printing a banner satisfying. About a year ago i wrote a very crude and buggy banner printing program for my C128 as well as a Character designer for it in mixed BASIC and Assembly. If I already had my SD2IEC things would have been a lot easier.

It’s one of the most satisfying power switches I’ve ever encountered.

My printers allowed me to ignore the end of paper message via the panel. You may also be able to turn it off in the printer settings.

The art supply store in my area prints receipts on tractor feed. They have a series of massive printers that spit out several sheets for every purchase. I asked an employee if I could buy a pack of tractor paper from them, and they said the boss wouldn’t allow it. Apparently he’s very particular about them.

And STILL no. 362,000 -- that was one very popular computer, even from the beginning. Fun Fact: the Commodore 64 is still the best selling computer of all time.

Merry Christmas. That was an interesting demonstration that brings back some good (and loud) memories. Your printer seems to be working very well. Good luck on getting a card for your Apple II.

I miss that old sound of a dot matrix. It would make a neat ringtone. :)

With some green bar paper your setup would be 100% complete and historically accurate!

Those are some shitty prices. You can get much cheaper at garage sales and other places for the basic machines.

I was born in '81 and a few years later my Dad bought a brand-new Apple IIe with two floppies, color monitor, and an ImageWriter II for his small business.. ..hypnotic!

I've been using my Commodore 64, The Print Shop, and printer to make Chanukah posters and cards all morning. And then look at the video that pops up!

Oh those sweet, sweet sounds of dot matrix printer printing, something that only people of a certain age will probably appreciate.

Awesome stuff. Very cool to own that. Sorry to sound like a broken record and I may have said this on another video, but you can improve the video quality with a specially wired cable. You can actually buy one on Amazon and what you end up with is pseudo separated video. The 5-pin video has a Luma output just no Chroma output. If you have a 1702 you can use the Luma and Composite output with the back connection and get a sharper image. Composite would plug into Chroma. Jim Butterfield of COMPUTE! outlined this in an article in an old issue of COMPUTE! We ran our family C64 this way for years.

Thanks for this. I've been meaning to attend but keep missing it each year lol. I have one of those silver label 64's, didn't realize it was such an early model, but cool to learn!

Before washing that WOC2024 t-shirt you might try using something called ColorStay Dye Fixative. It helps lock in dyes and prints to make them more wash proof. Take a selfie of you wearing the shirt first so at minimum you'll have a photo souvenir memory to look at and reminisce no matter what happens to it. Thanks for the nice video.
