Cut ALL the belts.... YES CUT THEM ALL and you will make things easier. I got all of them for about $40.00 total with Tax. Save me so much time with $40.00 and all of my belts are brand new again! *NOTE:* Alternator, AC, Power Steering, and Timing Belt.

Excellent video, I'm about to replace the same on a friend's Honda, I'm an old grease monkey from the V-8 times. Of course you don't have to mark your belt because the belt is the same all the way around, it doesn't have a special notch or anything so as long as you have your crank and cam at TDC you should be spot on with your valve clearances. Peace

I am not sure if you mentioned it, but as a final step, it's always a good practice to unplugged the crankshaft sensor before you try to start the car, that way if something is no properly aligned there is a lower chance of damaging the engine

ATG recommends to do the following: If you CAN NOT remove the Crankshaft Pulley's Bolt out- DO NOT DO 1. Get the complete Timing Belt Kit 2. Camshaft Seals 3. Crankshaft Seals. Good luck doing the rear one 4. Water pump 5. Rollers 6. Tensioner with Spring 7. Oil Pump's O-Ring. Good luck doing this 8. Spark Plugs are optional 9. Spark Plug Coils are optional X. All belts Many videos will not show nor even shops will replace those needed seals. Many owners will NOT get this type of repairs because it is well over $3,500.00. And for sure not a single one on KZbin will show you how to replace the Crankshaft Inner's Seal (back) or the Oil Pump's O-Ring without taking the engine apart from car. Anyone has questions /or need help, reply email address here

Just want to mention one other point when filling up the coolant make sure the heater is on HOT this helps prevent an air lock from forming in the heater matrix.

don't wish to be a pain, but when putting the timing pulleys etc together do not use anti seize use thread locker (I use blue) you don't want them to come out easy you want them to stay put.as previously mentioned I have many years experience, but I still like to review videos like yours as you are never too old to learn. Great job.
@jagvette15 жыл бұрын
I am a mechanic with more years experience than I care to remember, but would like to suggest you use PB blaster to loosen the bolt rather than WD40, Just a suggestion :)

The blue stuff on the pulley bolt is lock tight. I noticed that you put on bolt was anti seize. You need to keep that bolt from loosen not coming out easy.

So stupid question here. Can the tension adjuster on the timing adjuster be replaced with out having to do all this? Only ask because unfortunately parts aren't cheap here and if it's just that causing the "knocking" noise can that just be replaced easily?
@zuhrimohdlotfy15765 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately i think you have to go through most of this to get the that tensioner. You can skip the waterpump part

Great video. I'm not a mechanic in any sense of the word, but this was the best timing belt video I've seen. Planning to do this to my '98 Acura EL (Eh?), i.e. the Canadian version of a dressed up Civic. With help from my journeyman mechanic in-law of course. That was a lotta leverage you used to get that crank bolt loose!

How old are you? You sound young. I know many old techs that won't touch these. Good for you. Thanks for the video. Great job specially for using a torque wrench. The stuff on the idler pullies and crank pulleys bolts is locktite. It is good to use that and not antisieze. I am pretty sure these engine turn anticlockwise so that is the reason.
