OMG!! I just realized Wait Until Dark is a movie I saw on TV when I was 6! For years and years I wondered what movie it could have been and now--51 years later--I stumble onto it!! Just last weekend I was doing searches on the premise (terms like "woman, home invaders"), and literally days later I bump into it! That short movie Paddle to the Sea was shown in my first-grade class (1974-75). I had no idea it had been nominated for an Oscar. Doctor Doolittle was a fairly recent movie when I was growing up, and I have nice childhood memories of it. In later years it got a Golden Turkey Award from Michael Medved on the basis that it lost a lot of money for the studio. Personally, I don't evaluate movies on how whether or not they're profitable for corporations and don't understand why so many average theater-goers do. My only criticisms about Doctor Doolittle are the gross ethnic stereotypes of island natives and the fact that the movie is so darn long. Since I was born in 1967 I've enjoyed seeing what the Oscar ceremony was like for that year. Thanks for doing this!

I'm surprised there aren't more foreign adapations of Peter Pan. There are a shocking number of foreign adaptions of the Mark Twain stories. Three Russian (including a Cold War version), Romanian, Polish, French, and Canadian that I've found. You'd think Peter Pan is more universal than the Americana classics, but something about Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn has motivated foreign filmmakers.

Poitier had TO SIR WITH LOVE that also helped to split his votes. Steiger basically won for the Academy’s blunder for not giving him the win for THE PAWNBROKER handing it instead to Lee Marvin in CAT BALLOU. But the real losers were Robert Blake and Scott Wilson in IN COLD BLOOD, and John Mills and Marjorie Rhodes in THE FAMILY WAY who were ignored.

Hi great video. I am obsessed with Peter Pan I even made my own film 🎥 version of the story on my KZbin channel. Just a warning ⚠️ it’s very low budget, low tech and amateurish but my friends and I had a fun time making it. I’d love to hear your thoughts on it and wonder if you would like to check it out and let us know what you think of it.

Oh, bullshit. Lewis didn't release it because he knew it was a cringey mess he couldn't fix. I still don't "believe" it will be restored and released. I've heard these rumors for decades. Now it's November 2024. Where the eff is this always promised movie?

if you only watched the first few episodes, you missed that the Japanese Peter Pan has an entire original second arc about the Princess of Neverland and the Black Mirror, it's pretty great. Also, it's kinda weird seeing the Disney Peter Pan take the top spot, Disney himself wasn't super satisfied with how it turned out. Then again, I'm also part of the chorus that would've put 2003 in the top spot. Good list though, I'll check out that Angelina Jolie one stat.

While you made it very clear you were not reviewing series, even if you did cheat a little with the anime version, reviewing the first episodes the cover the events of the original story, I think you could still have given a shout out to various series that have something significant to offer, even if you were not giving them a full review. Of those Foxes Peter Pan and the Pirates deserves a mention for having, in my view, the greatest Hook and also handling the "Indians" on the island with greater respectability that I think was spurred in part by the rivalry Fox had with Disney at the time and them wanting to clearly hammer the weakest element of the Disney film. With your obvious passion for the source material it would be cool if decided to make a follow up vid looking at series in the future.

I really don’t understand this tier list. A lot of the top choices are so niche and unheard of. I’m really shocked at the placement of Peter Pan 2003 as it’s the most book accurate and really dives into the original themes of peterpan. I especially don’t understand the placement of peterpan and Wendy ranking higher than hook and “Disney’speterpan2” I understand this tier list is out of more personal opinion, but I cant say it’s the most agreeable :/

Jannings played a former officer, not a former Czar, which means king... Also the Barrymores were very American, but those are minor mistakes... The woke hubris and entitlement aren't, and make the video hard to watch... Industrious but lame...

I appreciate your efforts as these videos require a lot of research & time, but with all due respect, are you aware the idiom “across the pond” refers to the Atlantic Ocean? So curious why you would refer to the Vietnam War as being “across the pond” when it’s actually across the the much more vast Pacific Ocean.

Issue: Aaron Carter, MacCauley Culkin, and similar Justin-Butthole-that-all-the-girls-want-to-get-graped-by, speak out in defence of MJ, when there is no reason for them to do so, they could be getting more pussy, more money, and more money for underage pusstitussy, by saying "all men are ugly, nasty pedos, that infect the sexy white Aryan supremacist with n-word ugly sex harm". Females love that "wolf in sheep's clothing" sort of the thing, it makes them feel more deserving of special victim attention, they couldn't earn otherwise.
