Amazing! I have idiopathic scoliosis also. When my scoliosis presented itself in 1967-68, Harrington rods were recommended, but my parents said no. I wore a back brace I had no pain until I was in my 50's I had back surgery L3-s1in 2017 for Stenosis It is more common than we realize and of course as a teen you think you are the only one in the world. Lets stay strong together!!

I see it everywhere online: “it’s not handicap reserved, it’s handicap accessible”, “it’s not a big deal, just wait your turn like everyone else”. But guess what? When there are 4 or 5 other stalls and people choose to use that one when that is the one accessible stall for disabled people and it becomes that disabled people are waiting every time because you just want to use the bigger stall? It’s inconvenient at best and inconsiderate at the worst. Yes, disabled people have to wait. But I think it’s very different when a bathroom is full and that stall is occupied, and the bathroom is empty and that stall is occupied. When you constantly use things that are there to give access to people that would otherwise not have it, you are limiting that access by taking up those spaces. People can reply and cry about it all you want, but I think people know I’m right, they just don’t care about the disabled having ease of access like they do. There are plenty of other stalls! Why do you have to take up the one that many disabled NEED to use the frickin bathroom???? Because you’re selfish probably. And yes, disabled people with service dogs can also use this stall and often need to (like myself) because it is too small in the other stalls to fit both my service dog and me without her touching the toilet or getting hit by the door.

You're wrong. Those stalls are typically the ones that have the baby changing tables. So yes, they "have to use them too." Secondly you assume they don't have a disability. My mom cannot lift herself off of the toilet. She uses the bars in the stalls. You can't tell anything is wrong with her, except when she tries to stand up. She had a back surgery that went wrong. She was in her 30's and was constantly told to not use the stalls. By appearances, nothing looks wrong. But again she can't get up without assistance. She also has accidents and has wore depends since the incident 30 years ago.

Over here in the UK it's the cops who are a lot of the problem parking high on the pavement and over lowered wheelchair crossing points normally outside the coffee and doughnut shops . I have actually been trapped inside a coffee shop as the cop car was parked so close to the door I failed to be able to get my wheelchair out . When I tried later to access the cop station to complain I found 5cop cars parked blocking THE PAVEMENT TOTALLY a great way to stop people getting in to complain

Its a fact of life that folks just go in dont see a disabled person waiting an use the disability stalls. Its normally not out if ill intent. Not much ya can do. But you would be surprised how many folks think having a service dog and an portable oxygen machine dosent qualify you for a disability stall. An its not even by outher disabled folks they are usually understanding an sweet, but its mostly some middle aged woman going off on me with "if you're not in a wheelchair you shouldn't use em at all, an take your dog outside!" Like WTF dose she think Im having Amber use the bathroom too?- IDK Between needing bars to sit safe, my portable oxygen machine and Amber with me I can't fit into some of the small stalls. Yes she is trained to sit outside the door of the stall if absolutely needed but people have NO shame when I do this. Especially if there is a line, they will pet her, bother her, I had a kid sit on her like a horse once and one time a kid unlatched her leash! But even if I can manage to pull her in with me in the small stalls, again kids have a habit of just grabbing her tail an even yank it. Its nerve wracking!

Well if you saw me on the street, you wouldn't know that I am Disabled, but here's a real Kicker as I'm getting older just turned 62, and when my Bladder says let's go. You go?. I was recently in a McDonald's and I needed to use the bigger stall. And what did I find an employee taking a nap, I couldn't wait so I dropped my pants and let go, of course I should have peed on the Sleeper. Got done and left

I'm sorry but what did you do in this video??? Actually you got someone else to call the cops and when they Arrived you left?. You are a Joke what you had some place else to be. That's the difference between me and you. I've Volunteered my life to fighting for the rights of the Disabled and all you did was go into the store to tell them about the 3 car's illegally parked in Handicapped parking spaces and then you got in your van and left.

Really? Peeping on someone in the stall?? Imagine if you were the one being peeped on 🤔 Being disabled does not override bathroom privacy in any way. You absolutely do not know anyone elses disability. Ex: my disabilty is not visible to anyone but, I absolutely cannot sit or squat over a regular toilet! I cannot tell you how many times I left with wet pants because I was fearful of people like you "catching" me using the disabled stall. Until one day I just decided that I wasn't going out with wet pants. Not to mention not being able to bend over to wash the urine off my legs and shoes. Edit: definitely going to be taking a squirt bottle with me from now on just in case I ever run into you or someone like you peeping on and/or recording me in the stall. Invasion of privacy IS a thing and is legally punishable. And also note the changing table in that stall. It can be used to change a baby! That's what it's for.

In many states in this country it is ILLEGAL to film inside a space where there is reasonable expectation of privacy such as a bathroom. It is NOT illegal in any states to use the large restroom if you are not handicapped. So I hate to break it to you sweetie but you're not in the right here. Just because you're handicapped does not mean you get to act this way. This is disgusting and I have reported this video.

Disabled people have to wait to use the bathroom just like everyone else. If they're unable to wait, they usually have pee bags attached to them to go in. They're handicapped ACCESSIBLE not exclusively for disabled people. Also, a lot of people use them when they have kids so they aren't running around the bathroom. Stop being so entitled.

So true. I was chosen to represent engineering students from my school at the 2019 NSF STEM Symposium. I then had my accident and still went to the symposium. I was paired up with another visually impaired person before hand as I tried to navigate my new normal. She asked me how I would advocate for the disabled community at the symposium. I hadn’t even thought of my self as being part of a new community. Wow that was mind-blowing. I now sit on the AAAS Working Group for STEM Students and Professionals with Disabilities. I still have my cane but don’t always use it…so there is still a lot of work to be done but I am getting there. Thanks for starting the conversation.

I love it! There is nothing that irritates me more. I do have a handicap plate for my wife but when she's not with me I don't park in handicap. I even had to bring it up to the pastor at church about the abuse, young people using their grandparents hang tag to park in the handicap spots. That seems to be a common abuse the driver has access to a hang tag assigned to someone in their family, so 4 young people get out of a car and they hang the tag and walk in to church. Keep up the good work and keep the pictures coming!
