Perfect harmonies that many have tried to copy, but failed . The Everly Brothers harmonised from childhood, Don and Phil both sadly gone now but how lucky are we longtime fans at Christmas 2024 to view this KZbin footage? I'm Everly Grateful to Everly Brothers International.

They may have gone through periods of estrangement and reportedly despised each other at times; however, when they sing these songs together almost constantly gazing at each others' eyes, you can see the deep bond and love between these two brothers. Magical. A pity Ike wasn't there to share this experience with his sons. How blesssed we have all been to be witness their career. Thank heavens they did not give up on their dream. A true rags to riches story. 😁😁😁😁😁😁

2:07 - you can see this is lip-synched during the fade out when they stop singing live before the vocals on the record have ended.

I don't think the brothers ever realized that their voices were so indescribably beautiful that they didn't need to keep up with current trends in music. Don said he tried everything to get back into the top ten. But their gift was so rare that the top ten really didn't matter at all. Nobody on earth could sing that way except The Everly Brothers. Ike knew and tried to tell them that they were stronger together than apart. He used the illustration of breaking one stick in half. But when he placed two sticks together and tried to bend them, they would not break. All the other popular groups could sing pop, rock 'n roll. But only The Evs could sing the songs of the angels.

In one of their interviews, Phil describes "the Hollywood track." The boys were given screen tests which Phil says they failed miserably. He joked about it but I was so glad that the Everlys were too authentic to be transformed into Elvis imitations. They defined themselves as guitar-picking singers, not a Hollywood smorgasbord of mass-produced jacks-of-all-trades. Elvis enjoyed acting and wanted more serious roles. But the Evs were imprinted by their father as singer/songwriters and musicians and they never strayed too far from that identity. Thank God.

Fantastic to see Phil, such a shame he was asked to lip sync though. Phil can sing live any time. Great song. Our Phil group 'Forever Phil' come and join us.

Bowling Green was written by Phil’s wife at the time, Jacqueline Ertel. Cute song.

Did The Everly Brothers ever perform some of their later '60s gems like "So Lonely," "You're Just What I Was Looking For Today," "Bowling Green," "Kiss Your Man Goodbye" or "I'll See Your Light"? I love ALL of those songs.

Of those songs, I’ve only heard live versions of Bowling Green. A few that you mentioned weren’t even released at the time, amazingly.
