I spent months picking up my crochet things and just putting them back down because I couldn't find a video that helped it click for me. This is my third week straight through crocheting and I have been learning so quickly thanks to you! <3

So similar to something like a broken rib stitch, this is almost a broken stocking net stitch? I dislike doing a lot of pearling on a loom, so this seems more doable for a nice pop of texture.

Just wondering why you're not skipping the first and last stitch? Thought that was only way to have clean edges?
@GoodKnitKissesКүн бұрын
@@carilangley9824 you don’t always have to do that. Depends on the look you want. Also if you don’t slip the stitch then there is a selvedge to sew a panel onto it. You need it if you do that. Example for a sweater, garment or blanket.
@carilangley9824Күн бұрын
@@GoodKnitKisses Thanks for quick response! But what do you mean "if you don't slip the stitch?" Do you mean if you do not carry pattern to very end and start at very beginning you will not have a border like stitch or are you saying that if you omit the pattern on 1st & last stitch, but simply skip it on new round?

I experimented with this weaving a few years ago, making a very interesting beret hat. Finally sold it last year at a local crafters show when i put it on a mannequin to show it being worn. Funny how people cannot "see" some obvious things (i was asked if it was some sort of strapless handbag...smh).
@GoodKnitKissesКүн бұрын
@@ecouturehandmades5166 totally agree! I showed it to my family and had to put it on a mannequin head. 🤣 they loved it after that! But then my daughter said it would make a nice standing upright basket or something for tissues.

Hi! BRAND NEW lefty learner here! I have a H-5.00MM hook and find that I never can glide through creating the chains (first step in your video) easily. To pull the hoop through it’s always a struggle. It only goes through easily if I create the hoop way too loose. Could it be my hook that’s too big/thick?

see, I was thinking of something more like a mandala, warp strands meet in the middle and then the weft slowly winds outwards. This is cool though, this is almost identical to the technique on a potholder loom!!!

So it seems that to be able to put a rib knit on a hat it is going to need to have a loom with an even number of pegs. What do we do if our loom has an odd number of pegs? Mine has 51 pegs. Do I have to buy a new loom to be able to make a rib knit brim? If so, why on earth would they ever put an odd number of pegs on any round loom? I have to admit I am a bit frustrated to find that my loom is basically defective and looking at the looms I can find, it’s hard to figure out how many pegs are on these things to make sure it has the necessary even number of pegs.
@GoodKnitKisses2 күн бұрын
I understand. I actually wrote a reference book that documents and sorts most all the knitting looms out there. There are some patterns that have an odd number of pegs in the round believe it or not. But you can also find ones with even pegs. too.

You may find this book helpful. It can also be purchased as a printed book at other retailers as print on demand. Here is a digital version of the book on my site should you wish to get one there for reference on your devices. www.goodknitkisses.com/store/knitting-loom-guide/

Hello, I purchased this pattern and I love it. Absolutely beautiful. I do have a question. I want to use my 7/16 in 160 peg cindwood loom. I will be using worsted weight yarn. My question is, that I know the pattern is square but is there a way to adapt it to be rectangular? Thank you for your time

Thank you so much! Yes we have it in a rectangular as well. You could use it to adapt to your loom. I show two sizes in this. www.goodknitkisses.com/store/loom-knit-grandmas-rectangle-blanket/

Hi Kristen, I have tried making woven bottoms for a bag more than once. A single layer was loose, so for bag bases and water bottle sleeve bases, I weave two layers, before continuing up, whether it is cotton, plarn, or jute twine. It's sturdier, and the weight is better distributed. This video presents a different method than the other one I learned. I think it's reversed instructions. The one I learned started on a "corner" instead of the middle, like when you were measuring your strands. Yours is very interesting. Thank you for sharing.
@GoodKnitKisses4 күн бұрын
@@JustWriter Thank you!! Sounds like a very good plan for weaving two layers for sure! Will you try and let me know how this weaving pattern works out? I did flip the video to show the reverse but I think you may be saying might have varied more that than.

There is also a trick to making 3 strands of yarn from one ball (for those who don't want to rush to the store at the moment)😜. Someone made a KZbin video on the technique.
@GoodKnitKisses2 күн бұрын
Yes I have a video on it as well. I haven't used that for this though because every so often it bends the yarn to pull in the next strand and I wanted it it have a nice flat weave look. I'm sure you could do it but at the end you will need to cut and pull through the whole thing.

Would this work with ribbon yarn?
@GoodKnitKisses6 күн бұрын
@@lisastolp8125 you can test with different amounts of strands held together. Try not cutting and just folding over your yarn as many times as you think instead of cut. Then work through a little over half to see how full your mesh looks. Start over and add an extra strand to fold in if it’s too open. I would t worry about it being too thick if you have one too many strands. It will just hold up better.
