Great tip on the Adobe membership; while watching I switched to annual invoicing. Thanks a million! Glad you like the new Z50II. Many people seem scared by the 20,9 MP sensor. I own the original Z50 and am very happy with the IQ. It is my travel camera but I start to gravitate more and more towards this little camera. The small size and weight coupled with great ergonomics is what I love about this camera. I just ordered the Voigtlander Nokton 35mm f1.2 for it. It's a beautiful made lens and I'm looking forward to the "old" style of working: manual focus and aperture. Looking forward to see how the new Viltrox 35 mm does as well. I own the 20mm and 40mm and love these. Small, light, cheap but very high quality IQ. I'll share an image for the next office hours shot with the 20mm on my Z6II.

I was inspired to go back to some old photos taken on a Canon D30 4mp camera. I did the super resolution enhance. In Lightroom the new dng say's 2880x4320 but in the computer explorer it say's 683x1024 @ 96dpi in the properties of the dng. Can you explain?
@rlepage20073 күн бұрын
the dpi number has no real context outside of printing, Ron. You have a file with the 2880 pixels on one axis and 4320 on the other; how you use those pixels when printing is really the question. With an original D30 image, you'd get a 6-inch by 9-inch print at 240 dpi, which is a standard print resolution for a photo printer. With one through SR, you could get up to 12 by 18 at 240dpi without too much trouble.
@RonComstock3 күн бұрын
@@rlepage2007 Thanks Rick, I was just wondering why the dng file shows a smaller file in windows explorer, but the original CRW is a larger file in windows explorer Not by MB but by dimensions and dpi. Yet in LRc it shows a larger dimension for the same dng which is different than what windows explorer shows. I have way back printed at my phot lab 20x24 from the 4mp D30 just by cropping it to size @300dpi in PS and had no quality loss. So is the dng compressed in widows explorer, but in LRc it's not? The CRW is 3MB and the dng is 12MB but it's the dimension and dpi difference that doesn't make sense to me.

Why waste time processing when you can do it in camera with the Q2M
@HudsonHenryPhoto10 күн бұрын
@@karlshaw9706 you're giving up so much processing power in the tonal separatuon between the underlying color channels in the raw files. It's like having every color filter in the spectrum image wide in every image locally adjustable. In LR Classic you can simply set a targeted adjustment tool over the underlying color you'd like to adjust, click and drag up and down. Skin tones, grass, sky, fall color? All separately adjustable with a click on the black and white raw representation. All raw files deserve personal processing to get the most from. Similar shots from the same shoot can have edits synchronized in seconds and the edit can be very fast, but you'll squeeze so much more quality and creativity from your files than the camera's generalized algorithm ever will.

I’ve been doing B&W for 50 years. B&W Mono performs at high ISO’s which gives you real grain structure, not pixels! It’s like making a B&W print from a color neg.
@HudsonHenryPhoto10 күн бұрын
@@karlshaw9706 as does the color Q3. The biggest difference I saw was that you have more raw tonal processing latitude with the underlying color separations to work with. We all have our own ways of working, but my darkroom days are long past and I adore converting color RAW files into B&W. I can't imagine giving that up. It's an amazing processing tool. I saw no high iso advatage that couldn't easily be negated by Denoise in Lightroom Classic's Enhance and the noise patterning is filmic from both cameras. I'm not sure how Leica pulled that off so much better than other brands, but I love it. There's nothing wrong with the MC cameras or choosing that route, but I personally vastly prefer the files from the color Q3 whether shooting black and white or color.

The 43 mm version felt more like a hype, an experience that had never been had before, there is no Q2/Q in 43mm. If there is a Q4 43 at some point, it will get less attention. Everyone wanted more focal length than 28 mm (Leica has fulfilled this) and now you can see that 28 mm is the perfect focal length for this camera. I bought my Q3 28 mm in May this year and have now had it in Barcelona, Venice, Lake Garda and Thailand and have taken several portraits with the Q3 and I love the 28 mm..
